There is someone who excessively texts me and unfortunately I cannot block them as our communications are work-related. I've already put them on "Do Not Disturb" but it annoys me to see the red "1" unread message come through on my iMessages. For what it's worth, this person does not have an iPhone.
Is what I'm wanting to do even possible? I have to be able to receive their texts, but I want no notification of their messages whatsoever.

There is nothing you can do that will alert anyone that you are deliberately not receiving texts. If you disable iMessages, for example, they'll just get a delivery failure, but no indication why. The same goes if you had a voice plan only without text. Anyone trying to text you will just see delivery failed.Notifications are also a one way they street. They either alert you, or not (if disabled) when an app setup in notifications receives some input. It tells the sender of that input nothing at all - they have no knowledge of your notification settings as those only affect your own device. And yes, blocking blocks a contact - calls and text. iOS blocking does nothing at all to email.

It’s election season and I can absolutely tell. I get between 5-10 text messages every single day trying to get me to vote for the GOP. Every single text comes from a different number that never texts twice. I can’t block the individual numbers because they never text twice. It’s getting to the point where my watch and headphones are buzzing and announcing all day these texts that I do not want to receive. How can I prevent this?

I’m sure I’m not the only person getting political spam messages on their phone. At first it was only a few. Then I typed STOP on one of them and - kaboom! All of the sudden I’m getting three four five times as many. I now hit block and delete and they still keep coming from other numbers.
Is there any way to stop everything inbound? It unlikely I’d miss a customer text, because they can always call.
Please help!

You should be able to block texts from anyone who isn't on your contact list. It's probably a setting in the messages app called "Block Unknown Senders." You learned the hard way to never respond to spam, even to type "stop." That just tells them you're human and reading the texts. Just erase them and block the number.
