Recently, the topic of Skibidi Toilet has filled the orifices of my friend group. Many of us are either making lighthearted jokes about it or are genuinely ensnared by the series. This, with the exception of one, who hates Skibidi Toilet despite having never seen the series. He's been given shade by most of the friend group for his hatred of it. Feeling sorry for him, I decided to ask him why he feels that way, and it might just explain the overall hate towards Skibidi Toilet throughout the internet.
To give background, this one friend is a real movie buff. Wants to major in film studies, is obsessed with various films, and has an undying love for the Godfather. Upon asking him why he hates Skibidi Toilet so much, he initially responded with the typical 'it's nonsense/it's harming the kids', but then when I asked deeper, he stated how he feels worried about Skibidi Toilet's popularity, he's ashamed that the Godfather is less popular (iho) than Skibidi Toilet with the most recent generation.
Much of the criticism of Skibidi Toilet boils down to the shifting tendons of popular culture, bepuzzlement with new media, and beckoning why the media we grew up with isn't as popular as what's new.

He shouldn't be upset with children liking something newer than he does. Like you said, it's just culture changing and evolving like it does every time. As long as he still likes good older cultures and keeps it alive for the newer generations, it'll be fine.
