I was so incredibly disappointed with the “new” IKEA AR kreativ tool. Particularly within a small space like a closet or small office. And I struggle with the premade tools like “bedroom” or “office” . Seemed to limit the furniture options for each room. The pax planner hasn’t changed too much. And I did try the Besta planner and that worked well. Of course I didn’t commit and buy. Wish they’d bring back the original designer tool. I have both room planner and sketch up but in order to get all the IKEA furnishings you need to purchase full app- there is a trial period so if you can design etc within the trial time frame you can cancel it - save design first of course!!! IKEA had Home Planner app that used to let us pick any furniture but the latest one only allows kitchen item.
Tried the official AR app and it was trash.
Took a look at home.byme but doesn’t have ikea products and is a pain trying to find match or size like IKEA.
Is there anything out there?

I use Room Planner. There is a free version with a lot of the most popular Ikea stuff out there and a premium plan featuring a lot more products. It also supports other known brands, but I was basically able to plan most of my living room by using specific Ikea products. You won’t be able to plan a Besta wall, but it has most of the prebuilt stuff.

In 2017 I did my first pax design using the ikea planner with great success. The planner was incredibly useful and offered many features for creating a spot on room or space type blueprint. options for building walls, allowing for various wall heights, floor types, ceiling heights, adding windows and floor vents or baseboards… Fast forward to last couple months - designing a new pax project yet it seems the IKEA Pax Planner has had an update since the last time I have used it. Doesn’t seem to have or i can’t find options for the room itself. “Start from Scratch” option is a very generic room. Without all the specs of the room im struggling with getting an accurate plan. I tried the Room Planner app- paid version with trial. It has all the features for an accurate rendering and a great 3D walkthrough - plus you can add furniture including brands such as ikea and the pax- however it only has one pax style - without doors. Dimensions can be adjusted but not ideal.
So rendering in room planner is great- But isn’t the ikea app which is customizable for pax items & accessories- or add to cart, shopping list, or $total
Anyone have any tips on updated ikea pax storage planner to get better room rendering? Or another design app which has a thorough pax catalog ?
Unfortunately going into store to work with ikea designer in person isn’t an option. Thank you in advance

I’ve just tried it on a tablet and it works fine for me. Once you have the room started from scratch, on the right hand side, you might have to scroll that bit up, is an option for ‘Room Design’ where you can set dimensions. The options on the right I have (in top down order) are; Frames Doors, Handles, Interiors, Organisers, Lights, Room Design.
