You definitely could in a couple of different ways. You could literally saw off the current headboard at the spot where it meets the frame. You could then add a headboard to the wall as opposed to the bed. You can buy one ready made or make your own. If you don’t want to saw off the current headboard, you could build one and attach it to the current headboard or make one that would slip over the current one. Your new headboard could be just wood or you could upholster it. Either way, you still have to leave room for the mattress to fit within the frame. So, whatever you add would likely not be able to go all the way down to the frame, but instead would only cover the four rungs of the headboard. Another possibility (and likely one of the easiest) would be to buy a headboard that you could hang from the top rung of the TARVA headboard.
