November 27, 2024 - Docker containers are just Linux environments, make sure your python path is set and your project structure is clean and there should be no more issues than if you were local ... Let me give you a scenario. You get existing code in a repo. You are told to fix a few bugs. You spin up Docker Compose but there seems to be some problem with how the code mounts to the container. Run an api request to test the code and "ta-da" ModuleNotFoundError: No module named... yes the __init__.py is there and yes the PYTHONPATH is set but there is something buggy with a few imports.

Python Module Importing Problems - Python Help - Discussions on Python.org
March 26, 2024 - I’ve looked all over the Internet and gone to tech support a couple times with no luck on solving this issue. Some modules are automatically added with a python download (such as math and random) which I can access without an issue. However, although my command prompts shows manually added modules such as numpy, networkx, django, etc. have been installed, Python doesn’t recognize them.

Taming the Python Import System | Towards Data Science
January 16, 2025 - Running as a module with -m places the current directory in the 1st index in sys.path , running as a script places the immediate parent directory of the script in the 1st index in sys.path . These 2 paths may be the same when the project hierarchy is simple and not nested, or when you run the program from a directory right above the module (python file), so nothing to worry here. However, when these 2 paths start differing, you can print sys.path to debug. Absolute imports use the full path of the module from the project root, relative imports use dot notation.

If you’re not a core developer on a Python implementation, the problem of importing stale bytecode is most likely to arise when renaming Python source files. For Python implementation developers, it can also arise any time we’re working on the compiler components that are responsible for generating the bytecode in the first place - that’s the main reason the CPython Makefile includes a make pycremoval target. Many users will have experienced the issue of trying to use a submodule when only importing the package that it is in:
