the 9th gen is an A13 Bionic with 3GB onboard RAM. iPad Pro 11" 2020 w/A12Z & 6gb onboard RAM. RAM is king if you can afford the extra $150. There's something to be said for New and you know it's history, the 120hz screen and sound quality on the pro is also far superior to the basic iPad or iPad Air. Screen is can be take-or-leave it. Sound quality (good, loud) might be a consideration Ive owned 10.5" pro and now 2021 11" M1 iPad Pro -- both are far better than basic iPads (also in my house.) But I go back to my original statement. RAM is king. Look at the 10th Gen ipad & iPad Airs (4th/5th gens). They have 4GB RAM. Best guess is This will be the future minimum. I'm looking to replace my 12yr old daughter's old iPad right now. RAM is my consideration for future proofing. More on reddit.com

The 2020 one is killer but as with anything the newer you can get the better cos what really matters is how long it’s supported with iOS security updates. You’ll have to google that. I saw an article saying ones around 9 years old are being supported but couldn’t find a definitive list as I lost interest lol
