r/ios on Reddit: Battery health draining fast iphone 13
August 23, 2023 -
I have a iPhone 13 used 1.5 years It shows 99% BH% right no. I checked months ago and using analytics file and the BH% it was showing as 95.6% and it suddenly starting decreasing at an alarming rate. Like yesterday I checked the battery health from analytics file and its showed 94.64% and today it shows 94.43% that means every 5 days I lose 1%. So How do I reduce battery age-ing?
(Already following 80-30 rule and keeping the device cool) I know 1.5 years and 94% BH is good but if it keeps draining like that it wont last another month before dropping below 90%
Not to mention I recently started gaming Daily 1 hour could that be the cause?

Stop babying the iPhones, I did this too, and got nothing but frustration in return, they are expensive but to try to manage them this much and start to stress over it, you’d be better with a cheap android you’d care less about it and you’ll be happier, apple really zombified the users sadly

Hi i would suggest that you stop being paranoid about battery health. Batteries are chemical devices (like candles the more you use the more you lose it) They age with time, heat and number of times charged. You bought a costly phone to use it . Just use it and when you feel the battery ain’t last enough replace it. The 80-30 rule would be dumb to follow . Reason one Your trying to conserve an imaginary value which is not of any use to you. Why because you are not using 50 percent of the total capacity of the battery by doing this and that to to get a minute change in battery health maybe after one two years and why ? Why should you mot use 50 percernt of the battery which you paid for to conserve 1-5 percent in battery capacity or battery health. So basically you handicapped the phone and doing counter productive measures. Just forget such a value exist and change the battery. More over 80-30 is a very steap setting as you will need to charge very often as your only using just 50 percent battery and this means the phone is attributed to more charges and also heat asit charges Just forget all this drama use it as you like Edit https://www.reddit.com/r/iPhone13Pro/comments/vjo5xj/the_logic_behind_the_2080_charging_rule/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 The comments will be useful especially the third

Why is my iPhone 13 battery draining so fast all of a sudden?
Sudden battery drain on an iPhone 13 is often caused by a few key factors. The most common reasons include: a recent iOS update (like iOS 17 or 18) that may have temporary bugs, high screen brightness or 'Always On Display' usage, poorly optimized apps running in the background, or constant 5G connectivity in areas with weak signals. It's recommended to check your battery usage by app in 'Settings' > 'Battery' to identify the main culprit.

You can check your battery's health directly on your iPhone. Go to 'Settings' > 'Battery' > 'Battery Health & Charging'. Look for 'Maximum Capacity'. If this number is below 80%, your battery has significantly degraded and is a prime candidate for replacement to restore optimal performance. Apple typically recommends a replacement at this point.

It’s not absolutely out of the question, but if it’s 2mths old it should be under warranty and a quick trip to an Apple Store can check that there’s nothing unusual going on.
