I have a 7 right now. I’m satisfied with it, other than the battery life being short now that it’s at 80% health, and doing things has gotten a little slow. Like opening messages conversations, apps, dictation. Other than that it’s perfect! I don’t feel any need to get the 10, and the 11 doesn’t sound too big of a deal either based off the rumors. If money is tight that’s a good price and a way better deal than the SE 2. The 8 isn’t too different from the 7, the 9 is a bigger jump due to a few things. Answer from sunnynights80808 on reddit.com

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: New Watches worth it (Series 7 here)
September 16, 2025 -

I have a Series 7 that gives me 14-18 hours during the day. Its too bulky to sleep with...

I keep tinkering with the idea of buying a Series 10 or 11 - wondering if they are any slimmer, feel any lighter and would it be worth the upgrade.

March 22, 2025 -

Hi,

I have an Apple Watch series 7 since December 2021. In all honesty, it does everything I need. The apps, sensors, functions are all perfect for me. I don’t find the Ultra or Series 10 to be compelling upgrades for me, and the SE2 seems like a downgrade. My only problem is that the battery on my S7 is failing - I can’t wear it to bed anymore and I have to charge it as soon as I get home from work

My options are

  1. Get the battery replaced. Depending on the cost of this, I might be better off upgrading the watch.

  2. Upgrade the watch. As I alluded earlier, I have no interest in the S10 or Ultra. If I were to upgrade I would probably buy a Series 8 or Series 9 - what is the best place to buy those? Apple doesn’t sell them. Preferably looking for a place I can trade in my S7

Anyone who has upgraded their watch in a budget-conscious manner, please share your experience

Not sure where you're from but I recently was in the same dilemma with my series 6 in India. Seeing the WWDC announcement that Series 6 is supported by WatchOS 26 for another year at least, I went to the Apple store and got my watch battery replaced. Effectively they replaced my unit with a new unit. For watch they don't replace the battery, the whole unit is replaced with a new or refurbished unit. Now I have a new watch series 6 with zero scratches / dents and 100% (+) battery. It lasts almost 2x of what my older degraded battery gave (at 70% battery capacity). Your Series 7 if replaced will work for another 2 years at least with full OS support. Also beyond that the watch continues to work very well, just no OS update. As such with gimmicky features Apple adds each year unless a new sensor comes in which is truly ground breaking, the watch is not a few years upgrade proposition. Here in India, I got my watch replaced for about 1.5x of the cost my old unit was yielding if I sold it back to apple in store. But now that I have a new piece with 100% battery if I choose to re-sell this watch I will still get back roughly at par. Hence I chose to replace the battery (and thus the unit). Given this is now a basically new watch you can possibly use this in future as a standby watch too. Say you get the Ultra or Series 12/13 etc. that can be daily driver and this a nightly driver, since as long as iOS supports pairing the device it is not non-functional.

Note that any refurbished model you get as part of a battery replacement will very likely have the oxygen sensor disabled, due to that ongoing patent case.

I don't have the money for a brand ... will give you the different specs to compare. As to pros and cons, the only real "pro" is that it's likely to be relatively inexpensive now....

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Best bang for buck Apple Watch in 2025? Series 7?
February 3, 2025 -

Hi, I am looking at the best bang for buck watch for 2025. Mostly to monitor heart rate while running with strava and/or a heart band.

Mention that I will also to put a cover on it to look like the Ultra as I really don't like the looks of the standard version.

The Ultra is a bit too large for my wrist sice too, so a basic model+protective cover would be great.

Having said that, I am at the moment most inclined towards the apple watch 7 due to the fast charging, however I am struggling to find it as brand new rather than refurbished.

What do you think? All my apple gear (phone, macbook air, airpods) are from 2021, so maybe it makes sense for the watch to be the series 7 also launched in 2021?

I guess the alternative would be a 1st gen SE?

Thanks

June 2, 2022 -

A brand new 41mm Series 7 is roughly 368 USD (converted from PHP), and a brand new 41mm Series 8 is 514 USD.

I’ve watched some youtubers recommending the series 7 as the safer option to buy compared to the SE 2 and Series 8.

Is there a huge gap between the performance of the S7 chip and the S8 chip? This will be my first apple watch by the way.

As the title says I just bought a 41mm Apple Watch 7 with 93% battery. It’s my first Apple watch and bought it to dip my toes into the water to see if I like Apple Watches. What are everyone’s thoughts? Is it still a decent watch? And how many years can I expect to get out of it?

Thanks.

I have a Series 7 and am going back and forth between upgrading to a Series 11 or waiting until next year. I like some of the features that are available like temp tracking that I currently don’t have and the longer battery life overall, but can’t decide whether I really want to switch or not. Can you please share with me if you did, and if you are glad that you did (or are not glad)?

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: What do you get with an Apple watch series 7 vs the new Apple watch SE 2022
January 18, 2021 -

So currently I am between an Apple watch SE 2022 for 300€ or Apple watch series 7 for 400 €.

This would be my first smartwatch and my main interest is heart rate tracking, resting heart rate, exercise tracking and sleep tracking. Am I missing much with 2nd vs 3rd generation optical heart rate sensor ? Spo2 is also cool but I don’t see myself having any use for it. And well the ECG is really cool but I don’t feel I will use it beyond a couple of times.

Also I will probably rotate with other watches for social things, if that helps for the decision.

Series 7 or SE? : r/AppleWatch
January 8, 2021 - Im planning on getting an Apple Watch but looking for some advice. I’m only 14 so most of the time I won’t rely too heavily on the watch so I’m wondering whether to get the Series 7 or SE as the cost of the 7 is a lot higher and I’m simply wondering if it’s worth it.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Help me decide: Apple Watch Series 7 or SE 2022?
June 1, 2023 -

I'm in the market for a new Apple Watch, and I'm torn between the Apple Watch Series 7 and the Apple Watch SE 2022. I am deciding between these two particular watches.

Apple Watch Series 7: 97% capacity battery, 2 year’s old, 45mm, 300USD Pros: Always on display (even though lot of my friends disabled this feature because of battery), more sensors (will I really use it?), fast charging, keyboard (you can download to SE), the seller will give me more bands and protection for the watch, larger screen Cons: Higher price, they are two years old so the battery may go down quickly

Apple Watch SE 2022: 100% capacity battery, almost new, 44mm, 250USD Pros: Longer IOS support, lower price, 100% battery Cons: No keyboard, always on display, sensors, fast charging. Smaller display

Both watches are black. I want them for everyday use, running and going to the gym everyday. The prices are the best for my country.

Thank you for any help!
