I glanced over your points and it seems to me that you probably don’t need the pro plan team. Especially since you are just starting out.Libraries: you don’t need them unless you are working on design systems and large projects that don’t fit in one file. If the project fits in one file, you can store all your components and styles there.There are no workarounds, you simply don’t need the features on the pro plan. Figma is very permissive in the free plan.On the pro plan you can restrict viewers from copying your file. Otherwise if you are working with someone malicious they can simply duplicate your file to their drafts and they will keep access even if you remove them from the file. But this doesn’t give you 100% safety of course. Similarly, on the pro plan you can give people access only to the prototype: they won’t be able to view the file at all. On the free plan they can always open the editor and view all file contents, export them and duplicate the file.This is the only point I can see you may need but it doesn’t give you 100% safety against malicious clients. They could still take a bunch of screenshots and hire someone to copy them for five bucks on fiverr. So the best protection methods are a contract and the advance payment.Projects are like folders for files in teams. Private project means a projects that is not available to all members of the team, it’s only available to the members you share it with explicitly. Your files are not available on the internet without access on any plan.

Blindly creating Components from just about everything you made is not that useful. It clutters your Library. Only create Components from items you KNOW you will be reusing, be it in other components, in frames or even pages within the same project/file.I usually just design and when I need the same stuff again, its a that moment that I decide to create the Component. This way, only those items that are part of a websites basic design are duplicated, instead of everything.PS: creating Components also helps when you (or your coder) decides to create the code, because the same basic Figma design principles (like resizing, alignment, other text, yet having the same color, fonts and padding) also applies when you code. Having a page with all your Components helps in the development process.

I'm a freelance designer and I've recently fallen in love with Figma. So far, I haven't really felt like I needed to upgrade as it's incredibly flexible and expansive on the free version. To me, it seems like the only reason to upgrade would be for the bells and whistles... and perhaps more ways to organize your projects. Some things that I'm intrigued by are plugins like Pitchdeck.
Are there any other significant benefits to upgrading that actually make it worth the money?

Upgrade when you find yourself running into problems that would only be solved with premium - like creating & sharing libraries & projects, and storing full version histories. I use Figma daily and I've been on premium for years but I keep wondering why I don't downgrade since I rarely use the premium features and I wouldn't be hurting without them. But I'm happy to keep supporting this great app.

Hi Figma users! I'm very much new to this Figma world... I used Canva in college. I told you I was a beginner. But doing some digging and I stumbled upon Figma. absolutely worth it. start with YouTube's Figma channel. Videos are short and will explained. just remember this is a tool and UX design is a much more complex matter. try to have fun and make many mistakes while learning. Don't worry about doing everything right the first time, just learn the tool at your own pase.

Free says: “Unlimited personal drafts” while professional says: “Unlimited Figma files” is that the same thing just different wording? Getting into web design to add to my web dev learning and I don’t want to have to make a design and the delete it cause it’s capped at x amount of designs under free. Figma is deliberately misleading in pricing in many areas, and it all starts with the pricing page as you can see. There is no limit to how many files you can create on the free tier. You can use Figma without paying ever and you'd be perfectly fine. However note that since you are a developer: Figma made it quite inconvenient to develop on the free plan since the introduction of paid Dev Mode recently. Now it's not possible to view CSS and copy only the properties you need, you can only copy all properties at once and then edit them in your code editor. But you can use different free plugins, some of which may be even better than native dev mode for developing on your own. I haven't tried any but I did a quick search and found some nice free looking free options.

You just can’t collaborate as well on free and you only get a few pages within the file. It sounds like free will work for you.

Having a design system or common components and libraries published across multiple projects will save you tons of time. Arguably more money would be saved that way than you'd save by using the free version, if you factor your time as money, which you should if you're freelance.
