My understanding is that there are only 3 upgrades on the PRO the pro has multicolored leds lights on the knobs, not just blue and red the pro has a slide out propane tank shelf, the 500 just has the standard ring inside. The pro includes a small cutting board and ice tray/bin. Aside from those three features, the only difference is the pro has a little more stainless steel, the sides of the lid are stainless I think, compared to the matt grey (aluminum?) on the 500. I think the lid may also be a smidge taller for more inside clearance on the pro. I think i read the Pro also has a stainless side burner grate instead of cast iron. I just bought the 500. I couldn't justify the an extra $1000 dollars for the pro, especially considering I bought the natural gas version so the slide out propane tank wouldn't even be used. personally I'm going to take that extra $1000 I didn't spend and get the cover, griddle insert and maybe a wireless probe controller, and a lot of meat. r/grilling on Reddit: Napoleon Prestige Pro…is Pro worth it?
June 28, 2024 -

I’m about to pull the trigger on a new grill and the Prestige Pro 500 seems like a beast.

At $2500 it certainly isn’t cheap, but I’ve done fairly well buying higher quality to get more use/lifetime out of things.

However, there is always a point where the extra cost has a limited value.

Assuming I can afford the extra $1K, is there a real benefit of the Pro?

Is the step up to the Pro worth it?

Fwiw, those Napoleon grills are known for fairly significant uneven heating. Lots of search results here discussing it, like this https://www.reddit.com/r/grilling/comments/rc830r/napoleon_prestige_500_heat_distribution/ Check out the Weber Summit options as well. I went with a E-470 over a decade ago & never looked back. I regularly use the rotisserie (w/ IR burner), sear with the 3 burner 30K BTU sear zone, smoke with it (often low & slow for 8 to 12+ hr cooks). The large side burner is a must have for big pan cooks, like homemade stuffing, etc. I'd highly recommend NG too, never run out of fuel & less expensive to use than propane & charcoal.

I was just mentioning that because the fancier grates seem to be a big part of how Napoleon justifies the difference in cost. Not worth it for me, so going with just the Prestige series, and as Sdell suggests above I'll apply the savings to a lot of good meat / other cooking gear.

To spread heat evenly, Napoleon has stainless steel sear plates. The plates also protect the burners and help reduce flare-ups. The Prestige Pro grills are also available as built-in models, a perfect fit for any outdoor kitchen. The warranty on the Prestige Pro series is a standout in its class, having a lifetime warranty on the exterior housing, cooking grids, and stainless steel cooking box.

The cart is enameled steel, and looking at the grill straight on, you will see stainless steel. Inside is cast aluminum, which is much more durable than stainless steel. From the sides or back, it is painted steel. It’s a compromise, but one worth making. The Napoleon Prestige Pro series comes ... It can be argued that the 1985 Weber Genesis inspired the look of the 1995 Napoleon gas grill. This is a nice way of putting it. Genesis certainly was a revolution in gas grills, and once it hit the market, there was no going back. To compete, Napoleon had to match the quality, cooking characteristic

Carolyn The only issue I have had with my Prestige Pro 500 is the decals rubbing off. I used a degreaser, pretty common one that I've used for years for my grills, and discovered those decals on the front panel come right off. Otherwise, the grill has been solid, no temp issues that I've seen. ... I have had a Prestige 500 since 2010 and it is still going strong. I have replaced the grate on the sideburner with a stainless one and replaced the drip pan but Napoleon is great with parts availability.

June 16, 2023 -

Hello grilling-aficionado,

I'd like your help, please. I am torn between the pro-level of the prestige 500 and the base model 665. I've looked at the specs, countless YouTube videos and can't decide.

Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.

I know that when you are dropping coin on a new grill it's exciting, and intimidating. Buy the grill that has the options you like. Napoleon grills are a great start. If you grill steaks, the IR sear burner is more useful than you know. The rear IR rotisserie burner is also the tits. Just make sure you get the rotisserie with it or get it as a gift next year. Rotisserie chicken is the best you ever had.

I don't know about all the hate others are giving you on Napoleon. I have the Prestige 500 RSIB and love it. For your budget go with the pro 500. Why? I believe you get a heftier rotisserie which is awesome. After that, honestly the 665 cooking surface is HUGE and if you're doing some small quick meals it may end up being too much volume to heat up. I have a family of four and have done group cookouts and the 500 size is fine. Some of the extras between Prestige and Prestige Pro may seem gimmiky, but honestly I thought some of the extras on the Prestige were gimmiky when I first bought mine. I didn't know I needed stainless steel grates until I got them. Rotisserie is the bomb- I have the kebab rotisserie accessory and I'm never doing normal on the grill kebabs again. Side burner is nifty. It's hard to go wrong with their warranty too- 15 years on certain components and lifetime on the rest. I did a claim right off the bat (chipped paint on a cabinet panel due to shipping issues) and they sent me a WHOLE NEW PANEL no questions asked. I sent a second email saying "I just need touch up paint" and they sent me some after asking where the chip was (presumably to get the right color match).

r/grilling on Reddit: Napoleon Prestige 500 vs Prestige Pro 500
January 13, 2020 -

I'm looking at buying my first grill. I'm leaning heavily towards the Napoleon Prestige 500 (natural gas with the rotisserie and side burner). I'd love to talk myself into the Prestige Pro 500, but I just can't figure out what justifies the $700 price difference. Based on the comparison in their brochure, these are the only benefits of upgrading:

  • 9.5mm cooking grids vs. 7.5mm

  • Integrated ice bucket and cutting board

  • Lights in the grill and cabinet

  • LED knob lights vs just blue and red (and that weird floor light)

  • "Commercial" rather "heavy duty" rotisserie (whatever that means)

I'd happily pay $200-$300 for these kinds of extras, but $700 just seems incredibly out of proportion to the differences. Am I missing something?

I'm hoping this kind of post is okay, couldn't find any specific rules for this sub.

Questions on potential new grill purchase Napoleon | THE BBQ BRETHREN FORUMS
January 14, 2021 - I have a Genesis but am likely to go with Napoleon next and have had the same internal argument for month as to whether the pro is worth it. The one other feature it has beyond your list is more headroom (I think). Not sure how often I’d use that. Ultimately I think the Prestige is probably the better deal.

r/grilling on Reddit: Napoleon Prestige Phantom vs Prestige Pro
October 5, 2021 -

I'm currently shopping for a new grill, and have narrowed it down to either the Prestige Phantom or the Prestige Pro. What is driving me crazy is I can't tell what the major differences are with the Pro to make it worth $500 more.

The Phantom's main compelling feature are those really amazing looking cast stainless steel cooking grates. Those seem like a great upgrade over standard stainless grates.

From what I can tell, the Pro offers nice internal lighting, a convenient roll out tank holder, a taller lid, and soft close doors? I'm not seeing anything that might make the cooking experience superior.

Am I missing something that might make the Pro a better purchase? Perhaps the base offers better construction overall? Or am I simply crazy?
