OTC hearing aids are not indicated for severe or profound hearing loss, for any type of hearing loss the first step will be to consult an audiologist. Not all types of hearing loss will be improved by hearing aids as hearing loss can be caused by things external to the internal auditory system for example earwax (that an audiologist would identify).

In other words, if you have hearing loss please see an audiologist first instead of spending money on an OTC HA straight away that you might not need or might not be indicated for your type of hearing loss. You don't need to purchase a HA from an audiologist but you should at least ensure your ears are OK and that your type of hearing loss is suitable for an OTC.

Although the FDA has widened the scope of what a "hearing aid" can be classed as, this is an international subreddit and HAs are unavailable to be dispensed OTC in most countries. Please bear this in mind when recommending OTCs to those outside the United States.

I've had mine for around 4 months and couldn't be more pleased. When I got them in I thought the left one had failed so I called support and had a new set within 5 days. I then realized that it was user error that caused the problem with the original pair. Support = A+ Now, I can't get the day started without putting them in. I can't even feel them and have to check at night to see if I remembered to put them in their charging case. The sound quality is great for speech, I question their use for phone calls but that may just be me. I usually just hold the phone to my ear and the sound is great. Good for podcasts but pretty lame to listen to music from your phone (no bass). They do a great job to reduce ambient noise. When you buy yours make sure you take their on-line hearing test in a quiet room with good quality headphones. Their engineers will adjust them before they ship them to correct problems noted in the test. If you want, sign up for their premium package which will give you access to their audiologist support program. They can make adjustments remotely if necessary.
