String template with named placeholders

Replacing multiple string placeholders with values.
Just for coolness sake: var replacements = new List<(string key, string value)> { ("placeholder1", "abc"), ("placeholder2", "def") }; string template = "Some template with {placeholder1} and {placeholder2}"; string result = replacements.Aggregate(template, (s, t) => s.Replace($" {{{t.key}}}", t.value)); or with StringBuilder: stringBuilder template2 = new StringBuilder(template); string result2 = replacements.Aggregate(template2, (s, t) => s.Replace($"{{{t.key}}}", t.value)).ToString(); I don't know the performance tho. How to use integers in a String with placeholders
why is currentDate not updating when I update/change currentDay or currentMonth? Because currentDate is created when you call String.format, and it doesn't change. It's not bound to those variables, it just grabs their current value, converts them to strings, and inserts those strings into the template string. You'd have to call String.format again.
