Spider Plant - Spider plants can’t harm your feline pet, but they can upset your dog’s stomach if ingested. Bamboo Palm - Dogs can suffer from mild digestive issues if they ingest this plant, which is considered cat-friendly · Ponytail Palm - This beauty is a cat friendly plant, but if ingested in large quantities, Ponytail Palm can cause vomiting in dogs. Suggestions for LARGE Houseplants that are safe for cats?

This link had a lot of non-toxic plant suggestion:Apartment Therapy I am currently trying to grow up a maidenhair fern to max level. My grandmother has a maidenhair fern that is like, 2 or 3 feet wide and creates a gorgeous dome. She keeps it in a pot on a stand in rooms with indirect light. I think they’re kind of picky about water (need tons of it, hate getting dried out) but they’re also really lovely.

But in hindsight, it’s lovely BECAUSE it’s so delicate. A cat would make short work of its dainty, shivering leaves. :(

Large house plants non toxic to cats
The ASPCA has a handy database of ornamental plants categorized by toxicity to different pets . You can filter by showing only non-toxic plants, but this will include garden plants too. The largest indoor plants that are 100% safe to cats would be the palms. I would avoid Areca and Majesty palms because they're fussy; but anything in the genus Chamaedorea (bamboo palms) would be a good choice. More on reddit.com

r/houseplants on Reddit: Large Pet-safe plants?
May 3, 2023 -

All the Google results have the same repeated list over and over. We're planning on fostering cats soon and you never know what the temperament of the cat is, which means they may be plant munchers, it's unpredictable.

I would really like a plant that will grow tall and can fill the corner of a room on its own. I also like plants with broad leaves.

I've currently got a few succulents, two Calatheas (which I love and would like more varieties but once they reach their height they just grow wide afaik), a chamaedorea elegans, a tiny Polkadot plant, and a tiny Peperomia Caperata.

I'd love something similar to an Alocasia, fiddle leaf fig, or even a Ficus benjamin, but they're not pet-safe. Any recommendations?
