I tore out my entire kitchen and redid the whole thing besides the floors. The last photo is the before picture with no counter space at all. Put in new cabinets, countertops, added some trim-work, the whole 9. Took me a few weeks in my free time when I wasn’t working. The only thing I went out of the box with was my backsplash on one side of the kitchen. I went with a 72”x 36” tile called “Bianco Onice” Hoping to get some opinions. I actually ended up doing that same backsplash for a friend who came over and loved it. I did theirs in black though. When I was buying it, the people at the store said they’d never heard of anyone doing it. Am I crazy or a genius? Saved me quite a few hours of labor
I love the look of quartz countertops and also love it when the continue as the backsplash, but the additional cost associated with that just isn’t in the budget.
If I have plain, white quartz countertops and add in porcelain 24x24 tiles as the backsplash (minimal 1/32 grout lines), will it look weird having the two next to each other?
Would you recommend adding veins to the tile so it adds some texture, or would that again look weird since the countertops are plain?
I did something like that. I used extra ceramic large format floor tile as the backsplash on my old house. To glam it up, I added a small medallion every third tile, as eye candy.
Tied everything together nicely.
Suggestion: doesn’t look weird but be super picking how the veining lines up. They are floor tiles and usually 6 or 8 prints.
It would work w a grey countertop and white tile w veining.
We tried to do this.
