We have 2 cheapy ikea mirrors hanging from screws in our tile wall. We want to upgrade to a big 59”x32” bathroom mirror with LED lights and there is a GFCI outlet in the tiled wall and right next to it. I contacted a local GC and he quoted me $150 from thumbtack to hang it. Contacted an electrician I used to hang some ceiling fans ($325 a pop) and he wants $1100. Contacted a GC that my house keeper recommended and he wants $1000.
Am I missing something here?

You're missing that it isn't worth a contractors time to come out and hang a dang mirror for $150 so they quoted you a price it would be worth it at. Is it gouging? Yup. But unless you have a handy uncle or feel like doing it yourself you're stuck with it. Should call a handyman anyways, using a GC to mount a mirror is like calling an electrician to reset a blown breaker.

A SILVERGLANS driver is included in the package (according tonthe website information) what is basicly can operated with a wired light switch. If you want to operate above this with a wireless remote or dimming the lights then you need a RODRET or other (IKEA) remote. In case to add "smart" functions (oerate with phone, automate etc) then a DIRIGERA hub is needed. Exact answer for your question: yes you can replace your existing light/mirror and use the same wires whats in the wall IN CASE of the ability to connect it to driver.
