So, with any dock that doens't use displaylink, the older Fujitsu won't work. USB pre USB-C simply doesn't have provisions for video output. And USB-C it's not absolutely required for many versions of USB. So you'd either need to upgrade the laptop, move the cables from the dock to the laptop itself, or deal with displaylink. IMO, displaylink is the WORST of those choices. More on reddit.com

I use a ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A dock with my M1 Pro MacBook Pro and my L14 Gen 3 AMD and it works great with the ThinkPad, but not quite as great with the MacBook. This dock requires DisplayLink drivers to be installed, which is fine under Windows so the dock behaves nornally and it works well with the ThinkPad. I reccomend getting a USB-based dock and not a Thunderbolt one as it will not work with your AMD L14 Gen 1 and probably not the MacBook either. However on the MacBook, DisplayLink drivers on macOS arenb't quite as good but are required for most docks to work, Apple Silicon is a different beast to older Intel Macs so your options are much more limited. It requires you to constantly "share" your display, which at least on macOS Sonoma gives you a persistent blue sharing icon in the menu bar which looks obnoxious, but can be ignored. The bigger issue is performance and features. If you use an Apple Watch and use the "unlock my Mac with Apple Watch" functionality, this will not work while "sharing" your screen, so you have to enter your password or use Touch ID, but if you're like me and keep the laptop lid closed while docked Touch ID is no longer an option unless you use an external Apple keyboard which I don't. I've also noticed some weird performance issues, these could be related to macOS Sonoma though which did change how external displays are handled. I had a lot of trouble getting two displays to work correctly, which should work just fine on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro, but my primary one would work fine and the secondary display would lag and have graphical issues. I could only avoid this by plugging the second display into the MacBook's HDMI port directly. Given that you have an M1 MacBook Air, your display options will be more limited than mine are, so you might not even have the option to do more than one external display due to Apple stupidly insisting that more than one extenral display is a "Pro" feature. I want to do some more testing on macOS Ventura since these issues could be purely related to Sonoma, but it isn't the best expirence using one of these docks on a MacBook. More on reddit.com

You lose all charging capability using USB-A. It's not in the standard. It'll work fine on a W530 if you use a USB 3.0 port. Older machines with USB 2.0 will work, but the video capability struggles a bit. Source : I tested the dock at work when we first got them years ago. More on reddit.com
