I live in Texas and I go to a lot of parties and shows where I'd love to wear a suit, but normal suits are generally:
- too warm
- too formal
- not stretchy enough for lots of moving around
- have to be dry-cleaned
I've been looking at some of the mesh or "performance" fabric options from various brands, such as the uniqlo airism blazer and pants, but I'm not sure what's good. I'd love to keep it under $300. I'm 6'2", 220ish, and pretty muscular, and I have long arms relative to my torso, so something with a "tall" size would be nice. Does such a thing exist?

A blazer and pants isnt a suit, theyre separates. Youre going to find there are very few options for machine laundered suits. This is the case for just about everything with a separate shell and liner fabric. You might want to look for "unstructured" (unlined) suits. Try linen and summer wool for fabrics. Or just go for separates. Relwen makes some very nice machine mashable, casual blazers.

This is going to have you looking like Andrew Tate, where your suit looks like someone threw some lapels on overly tight athleisure wear. Do not go down this road; it looks ridiculous and undignified. As orten_rotte suggested, your best route is going to be "unstructured" suits in summer fabrics like linen. If you must go down the machine washable route (I don't recommend this), stick to blazers and slacks vs suits. Buck Mason makes a line that kind of fits these requirements (they call it their "parachute poplin" or "carry on" suiting). Based on the styling available on their website, I suspect these will look best mixed and matched rather than worn as a full suit but your mileage may vary. Edited to add: as others have alluded to, I suspect that one reason that you are having this issue is that 2000s and 2010s retail suiting was dominated by "slim" cuts on suits. I think people go overboard in saying these look terrible to a 2025 eye, because much of it is simply the ebbs and flows of things going in and out of style. But from a purely logistical standpoint, slim cut pants and blazers are often restrictive in the hips and shoulders. I suspect this may be causing your issues, and can likely be solved in part by choosing a more generous cut in your suit, such that it has more "drape" to it. This will allow you to move "within" the fabric and have it follow you, vs. feeling restricted by it.

Anyone got recs for warm weather suits? Also, curious if I should go 100% linen or a linen/wool/silk/etc blend. I feel like all linen would wrinkle way too much but wool might be too warm for summer? i have a 100% linen suit. it wrinkles putting it on. i’d recommend getting a blend (even 10% cotton would help). you could also get a tropical wool suit which would be a wool blend. Coltesse looks nice for a casual suit. it’s a french brand.

I own two summer suits – a 100% linen suit from Todd Snyder (purchased a few years ago on sale for ~$300) and a cotton/linen seersucker blend from AKOG. TS works well and is good value for money especially purchased on sale. You can also purchase secondhand at fairly reasonable prices. AKOG is about the same price as TS but harder to find on sale. They actually just dropped new summer suiting some very interesting fabrics and cuts. Not "traditional" by any means. You also mention wool in your post – a tropical wool will feel better in the summer than a 100% cotton suit, and not wrinkle as easily as linen.
