PSA - it takes an ungodly amount of time to install IME. My work issued M1 max MBP is STILL installing this update after >40 minutes. On a near top of the line CPU and NVMe storage I'd expect installing the entire damn OS to take markedly less than that... More on reddit.com

r/MacOS on Reddit: What are your thoughts about macOS 13 Ventura?
June 21, 2022 - The difference between macOS 9 and 10 was enormous. 10 and 11 were less so, but at least the icons changed. The difference between 11, 12, and 13 are almost unnoticeable unless you are looking hard. I think the whole annual OS release cycle is more about marketing than anything else, to get people talking about it. tl;dr I think Monterey and Ventura could just be Big Sur 11.x

August 20, 2024 - Here’s a reminder: since macOS 10.15 Catalina in 2019, macOS systems no longer support 32-bit software and plug-ins. If you are upgrading from a pre-2019 version of macOS and have a particular app that is 32-bit, that app will not run on macOS 13 Ventura at all.

Honestly haven't had any issues with it. Absolutely loathe the new settings app however. It's just so unintuitive to use. I just search for every single thing I want to do.

i know literally nothing about mac os features and this macbook has been on this version since i got it, is not updating a liability, are the newer versions performance dampening and is it going to close my browser tabs if i do decide to update? i think those are the main concerns i have but if theres any other factors i've missed thatll be useful too

Not updating is a security liability. You don’t necessarily have to be on the latest major version, just on a version that is still receiving security updates. Ventura is still receiving updates until Fall 2025. The current latest version of Ventura available is 13.7.1. Back up your Mac and then update in System Settings. There should be an option to bypass Sequoia and remain on Ventura if you want. EDIT: Your Mac restarts during an update, so yes - your tabs would be closed. Save them in a tab group first to restore them easily.

macOS 13 Ventura - macOS 13 Ventura brings Stage Manager, Continuity Camera, and a slightly unintuitive update to the System Preferences app. The boringness of this update is a testament to how polished macOS Monterey already was.
