Comparing QDA software: MAXQDA vs NVivo
April 8, 2025 - NVivo stands out with its real-time collaboration capabilities through NVivo Collaboration Cloud. This feature enables multiple users to work simultaneously on the same project, track changes, and manage contributions seamlessly. MAXQDA includes some collaborative features, such as shared team workspaces, but they lack the dynamic and integrated nature of NVivo’s collaboration tools.

I would look at R and see if there are libraries to do what you want. Very powerful skill that you can take anywhere. The learning curve is steep, if you don't know any other programming languages, expect a 3-6 month beginner phase. Tons of resources online though, you will not get stuck. More on reddit.com
Best Software for Qualitative Research - On a budget
100 is a huge (and imo unnecessary) sample size for in-depth interviews. 30-50 is closer to normal, and if you have to hand code them, you can. The software (Atlas.ti; QDAMiner etc) will be prohibitively expensive. The only reason to do interviews is because you are after depth of information; if you want to generalize to a population you need to do a survey using random sampling. Doing more interviews will not make your findings more valid, nor will it make them generalizable. There is research showing that generally after 30 interviews you're just hearing the same kinds of things from different people. Hi folks!
What are your recommendations for qualitative analysis software? I’ve heard good things about Nvivo and MAXQDA. If there is an open source version, that would be ideal, but I’m open to suggestions!

Im Doing QA for the first time. Im using Nvivo and it's kind of ass if you need to manage a lot of codes. I can see it being good for smaller datasets though. Its like mildly more useful than just doing coding by hand imo. I'm stuck using it for now but im disappointed that ut doesn't have some features I'd expect to be essential (like a simple hover to see the code!). Be sure to set up the back ups. Also it crashes with some queries.
