Americans of reddit, what is your opinion of the metric system?
I kinda wish that we had the metric system but it would take several years before the transition would be easier. And by that I really mean that I have no idea of temperature in Celsius except that 20 is pretty chilly/nice and 30 is very hot. Edit: Yes, I know that 0 is freezing and 100 is boiling. October 22, 2019 - It was later found that Delambre and Mechain had not properly accounted for the earthβs flattening in correcting for oblateness. However, the metre remains the invariable standard for the metric system, and its length has not changed even though the official expression of the definition the metre has changed several times to improve the accuracy of its measurement.

No such simple relations existed in standard units of weight and measure among units of length (inches, feet, yards, miles) or among units of length, volume and weight. In other words, the French introduced not only national standards, but a system of standards. It survives today as the metric system.
