If you are a current G/D client, this was a forced migration. I had to escalate this multiple levels before I got an answer on this. Level 1 tech is useless and you shouldn't bother other than to just keep asking for someone else. We have numerous email address via numerous G/D hosted email accounts. As you can imagine, everything dumps to various handheld devices, laptops, etc. on both MS OS and Mac OS. I have not paid for this product and in fact we're still using the old POP credentials on all devices. If you are still having issues there are various work-arounds in this thread but I was actually told 3X by senior managers that payment for usage of this product is not necessary, specifically due to forced migration. One manager went so far as to hint that it would be illegal to force a product on a client, request payment and terminate that relationship (extortion??). I feel like I haven't gotten a straight answer from GoDaddy on this.
I received an email that says my email accounts will be suspended unless I pay them for "Microsoft 365 Email Essentials Basic".
I did the "GoDaddy Workplace changeover" thing about 3 months ago, with no problems.
I know "GoDaddy is evil" and will most likely be going to another vendor if this MS 365 thing is true.

The easy way is to just pay them. The hard way (assuming you have cPanel hosting) is to set up your emails in cPanel. I'm doing the latter and don't recommend it.

godaddy is asking me to pay for Microsoft 365 Email Essentials Basic ($42 / year)

i already been uusing google workspace ($15/month) for 10 years
for same email ([email protected])
do you know if i dont renew the godaddy microsoft, will the whole email disappear, like google workspace wont work anymore?

You won't lose your email if its stored with Google. Verify all your domains MX records are set to Google. If so, you won't lose any email and email delivery will be unaffected by canceling M365 Essentials.

Just want to make sure you're reading the pricing right, since the Microsoft 365 they are offering is less than 25% the cost of Google Workspaces ($3.50/mo on annual subscription vs the $15/mo). You should still have email achives regardless, but the cost difference is significant unless you have a massive need for certain tools over the other beyond email on your own domain.

I started noticing a lot of the email forwarded by GoDaddy through the free email forwarding service I've had there for years had started going to spam in Gmail. The Gmail help forums actually were helpful, in that someone else mentioned Microsoft 365. Since this started maybe 6 weeks ago or so, I think that was right when GoDaddy started this free trial, and all the emails that were marked spam were through that forwarding service. Anyone else noticed this correlation?
