Help understanding Windows Defender licensing
Servers can be covered through Azure based Defender for Cloud using the Azure ARC onboarding. You can then assign them either P1 or P2. The licensing is not device specific but rather consumption based. More on reddit.com

Licensing "issues": Onboard via 'Microsoft Defender for Cloud' or 'security.microsoft.com'
Best if you can chat with a MS account rep from where you purchase your license? In the link here , if you have defender for endpoints license of 50+, your servers when onboarded, will be licensed. Assuming you dont have those license, then your Defender for Cloud license is covering your on-prem servers and Azure VM. We are planning to move our customers onto Windows Defender. Most of the customers will have on-prem computers and servers and the users will have business premium licenses assigned. What licensing would i need for the servers and will the business premium license cover the user computers?
