Dear John,
Thanks for the help. I tried every method, and none of them worked. The 3rd method (**Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.) did not even happen because it said I needed elevated permissions to run DISM. Do you have any other methods I could try to resolve this issue? I really need access to the Microsoft Store for my email amongst other things.
Kind Regards,
Ahmad
Im getting this issue lately whenever i format a new laptop, microsoft store wont load and i get an error, cant search anything, or load the installed apps... even after full windows update still nothing...
I noticed few times when microsoft store get updated somehow, it runs fine, even though the set region is us... before that i never had such problem, microsoft store open normally, loads the apps and check for updates then auto update... now it does not load anything, only getting an error with no apps to show
Im not asking for a fix, im only asking if there is a way to manually update or install the newest version of microsoft store? Like normal software gets installed with an installation exe or something like that

Please try this if it helps.
Please make sure to uninstall the Microsoft Store and Xbox app first.
**Uninstall the Microsoft Store app:
Press Windows key + X
Click and Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator. Copy and paste the command below then press Enter.
get-appxpackage *WindowsStore* | remove-appxpackage
**Uninstall the Xbox app
Open Settings then select Apps
Click Installed apps, find Xbox app
Click it then Uninstall
Once the two apps are uninstalled, install the Xbox app from the link below
https://aka.ms/XboxInstaller
Restart your computer then open the Xbox app
This will prompt to install the Microsoft Store app
Please check if the issue persists.

Hi Mount Derick,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A!
I understand how frustrating it can be when the Microsoft Store or Windows Update fails to work properly. Here are some methods to fix update issues that you can try:
1 - Update via Microsoft Store itself:
- Open Microsoft Store > Click your profile picture
- Select Downloads and updates > Click Get updates
- Or click the Library icon > Get updates.
- If the Store has an update, it will install automatically.
2 - Force update
- Open Windows PowerShell as Administrator
- Run this command:
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} - Restart your computer and try opening the Store again.
3 - Reset Microsoft Store cache
- Press Win + R > type
wsreset.exe> Enter - Wait for the prompt to run automatically
- The Store will reopen, try updating again
4 - Run the built-in troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters
- Select Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter.
5 - Reset Windows Update components
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run the following prompts one by one
-
net stop wuauserv -
net stop bits -
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old -
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old -
net start wuauserv -
net start bits
-
- Then try updating again

Hi Mount Derick, it's been a while and I'm just wondering if you can get your Microsoft Store working now. Any updates would be appreciated!
It's very frustrating when someone wastes the user's time by copying and pasting the same generic solutions that anyone can obtain from the very first Google result: "Run the troubleshooter, update the app, restart your PC, reinstall the app and if all else fails then sent an email to tech support."
Hi Peter,
I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.
If you have tried below, let me know. Otherwise try it.
The following command would Reset and Reinstall Microsoft Store on your computer:
Press the Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.
Type "WSRESET - i" without quotes.
Press Enter.
Wait for the process to complete.
