October 29, 2012how do Microsoft referrals work?
AFAIK a referral happens, then you get in the system. If you're hired within 6 months, the referrer gets a bonus. After that, you're open to be 'referred' again. I don't know if that applies to internships, though. If you fail an interview - keep trying. Often times you might be a good candidate but not "the right fit" for the team at the time, or there's just someone else who got in at that time. That shouldn't stop you from trying again. It's a fantastic opportunity. It is in most ways equivalent to their "standard" internship for undergraduates. Typically Freshman and Sophomore do Explore while upperclassmen do a "standard". It's certainly competitive to get in, but they do recruit many interns from small and lesser known schools. Good luck!.
