Do you really need midi? If all you want to do is play piano, and bring recorded waveform audio into Fl Studio when you’re ready to record, then any electronic piano with 2 TRS or XLR outputs will get you to any good audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for example). Then you just arm FL Studio to record waveform audio straight into Edison or the playlist — and you’re done. But if you need to produce your music from midi files, and you want full FL Studio connectivity, I think the Novation FLKey 88 may be best for you. More on reddit.com

The other poster is correct. You do need to be more specific about what you want to use the MIDI keyboard for, and what your expectations are. That being said, I'll suggest the Arturia Keylab 49, either the MK2 or the Essential MK3. https://www.arturia.com/store/hybrid-synths/keylab49mkii https://www.arturia.com/store/hybrid-synths/keylabessential49mk3 Arturia Analog Lab it certainly a good bonus to get with the keyboard, as it has over 2000 synthesizer sounds for you to play with and tweak. If you don't have a DAW yet, it comes with Ableton Live Lite. Great choice for electronic music. It's the beginner version, so perfectly fine to start out with to decide if you want to invest in the professional grade versions. More on reddit.com

I need a good controller for use inside of FL Studio, but I also want to be able to just practice piano which means I want something nice with weighted keys. I was about to purchase the Komplete Kontrol S88 since it's nearly perfect to me, but then I realized something that I literally had 0 knowledge or expectation of before, which is that MIDI controllers are in fact NOT pianos and cannot be used to just play.
Does anyone have any recommendations for keyboards with weighted keys that work nicely as electric pianos and controllers for orchestral music production. Ideally no more than $1k, but I can go higher if it's worth it.
Side question: I thought about just hooking up a controller to my DAW and playing piano that way, but it seems like there's always a bit of delay added when doing this. Is there possibly a way around that?
