Most dust extractors have comparable performance and swapping brands shouldn't cause issues, however a dust extractor is different from a shop vac. I'm assuming your Henry is a shop vac, not a dust extractor. Dust extractors have significantly higher static suction, which is necessary to forcibly evacuate the fine particle debris from tools like sanders. A shop vac is only about 60% as strong, because it was never intended for that usage. It'll still be better than nothing, but it will not clear out the fine debris the same way a dust extractor would, and so you'll get more loading on the sander. In short: Connecting a Mirka sander to a Mirka dust extractor will not be significantly better or worse than connecting it to a dust extractor from Festool or Fein or Hilti, but it will be significantly worse than connecting it to any kind of shop vac. Dust extractors: Festool/Mirka/Other?
I have a Bosch GAS 35 M. The M rating (fine dust) is rather annoying as the automatic filter cleaning is fairly loud and always comes on with the vacuum (stays off when disabled if using it on automatic mode). It stacks neatly with Bosch L-Boxxes. I have all Makita kit and a Festool vac would've been better because of their Systainer base. Since I have all Makita I can get wireless auto start when using cordless tools through their Bluetooth system. They have a universal receiver that you can use with any vacuum. You should consider this when buying, I don't know what solution Bosch and Festool uses for their wireless start. On the older full-size Festool vac you could add a standard remote through the add-on port on the front. Also look up the prices for replacement bags and take that into the equation. Mirka Sander?
I own two. Love them. Some thoughts— the Deros is not a pneumatic sander, it’s just kinda in the shape of a pneumatic sander like the the mirka ROS. I just want to be sure we’re on the same page because I have different thoughts on pneumatic sanders. That “pneumatic style” form factor fits really well in my hand and I love it. Other people seem to really hate it because you can knock over the sander and activate it accidentally. I use my 5 inch pad for all wood sanding applications. The six inch pad I have I only use for feathering out drywall mud repairs (I’m a carpenter who does a fair bit of remodeling). The deros is not a “material removing” sander that you can press into service to do things that ought to be done on a planer or jointer. If you want one machine to do it all maybe look at a rotex. needed accessories— “pad savers” which I believe is the same as the interface pad. High quality sand paper, I prefer 3m cubitron II (the original, not the open weave chevron cubitron xtract, but that’s because the xtract can’t really be pressed into hand sanding applications as easily). And lastly a hepa filter equipped dust extractor— absolutely essential. If you don’t have one and can’t afford one, you can’t afford a premium sander, sorry :( Random thoughts— my first one I bought used and it worked until I lost a conductor prong from the cord. “No problem” I thought, “ I’ll just clip the damaged plug end and rewire a replacement”… It never worked, despite outwardly being a totally normal looking set of braided conductors. Good news is that replacement cords are only like 20 USD from mirka. I ended up buying the second DEROS because I was convinced my first one was dead… until the new sander’s cord made the original work. The replacement came from Amazon and I have no complaints about that. I would have liked to try a festool ETS150 because there are better options for pads, but at the time festool availability was very limited. If you want I’ll trade you your old festool for my old mirka straight up. 😂 More on reddit.com

Other than Festool and Mirka, who makes the best line of sanders?
Mirka is even better than Festool. Try one before going back to a Bosch More on reddit.com

Sanders/Vacuums, what’s the best option. Festool? Mirka? Ekasand? | Professional Painting Contractors Forum
September 1, 2023 - However one thing I’ve been debating on for years is upgrading to festool or equivalent sanders and vacuums. Normally when choosing something, you have an average quality product that is $100( made up number for easy comparison) and then the high end product that is $150 or sometimes $200. So typically 50%-100% higher. I have no issues with that and typically go for the best. However when it comes to festool (for most things they sell) and Mirka and Ekasand for sanders, it seems like things are typical 300% higher.

r/Tools on Reddit: Dust extractors: Festool/Mirka/Other?
December 10, 2020 -

I have been looking to get a quality dust extractor for woodworking to use with a track saw and RO sanders.

In particular, I am currently considering either a Festool CT36 or a Mirka 1230 (rebranded Nilfisk Attix 33) and I am unable to decide which one to go with. I am currently leaning towards the Mirka since it is ~$100 cheaper, however I would have to order it online (by contrast, Festool is available locally)

I am also open to any suggestions for other brands/models as long as they have variable suction and (preferably) auto-start with the tool. I am aware of Starmix iPulse (OEM for Mafell, Metabo, Rokamat) extractors which are well regarded, but I have not found many retailers for them here in Ontario, Canada.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
