I would like to remind everyone that Moen products have a lifetime warranty for the original owner. Somewhere in that box is a sticker that says, “Save for your records”. Put that sticker on the inside of the cabinets where you install these faucets, and write the date you installed them in Sharpie on the sticker. The sticker has your model number, serial number and the 1-800 number for Moen customer service. If anything quits working on your faucet, call and describe your problem. Moen will ship you new parts as long as you own this house. Our kitchen faucet is a Moen and I have needed new inverter valves, a new sprayer, a new aerator, etc and Moen customer service has helped me every single time. Hi, used to work for Moen R&D + QA. Depending on the model, its either metal plated plastic, or metal plated brass underneath, and the finish was made to stand up to horrendous abuse. Stripping that off and reapplying your own finish might work, but I would expect corrosion down the line. Doing this also isn't cheap, might cost more than a new faucet with the proper finish. Customer service at Moen might also do an exchange, even if you didn't buy it. They are obsessed with maintaining brand integrity. Just my two cents from a former life. More on reddit.com
