In recent years, like around 2018-2019, MSI laptops got super popular in my country.
So, why the hype? Well, there are two sides to the story:
On the plus side:
They're more budget-friendly and offer tons of options compared to other brands.
MSI is known as the go-to "gaming" brand for PC parts, so folks assume their laptops are gaming-ready too.
But here come the downsides:
After a while and based on reviews, it seems MSI laptops tend to break down faster. Some say it's issues with the outside, like hinges and the laptop body, or inside problems like motherboard failures. The outside problems are a hot topic on forums.
Some of us felt that their build quality wasn't great.
Customer service and after-sales support have been a letdown, with limited service centers and long RMA times, often 1 to 3 months.
Back in the day, I was skeptical about MSI laptops. But now, I need a budget-friendly one (no rush), and I've got around $600 to $1000 to spare.
For the lower budget, I've got my eyes on the MSI Bravo 15 B7ED, packing an R5 7535HS and an RX6550M.
After watching some videos, I don't think it's as bad as I once thought. It's made of plastic, but I see some decent stuff like the heatpipe.
So, what's your take on MSI laptops these days? Any recent bad news like in 2018? Those of you who've had an MSI laptop for at least a year, any issues to share?
Thanks guys

I’m new to Reddit still but have posted a few threads in this sub-Reddit as I’m having a slight odd sound with my hinge and I see looking at posts this isn’t unusual…
So far though, (not related to that issue), I’ve had good a good experience with tech support with knowledgeable staff helping with driver issues etc.
The price of my laptops were good, the specs are brilliant on the inside and there’s no coil whine unlike other brands I’ve come across and rarely any software issues - one company I used before when updating BIOS on new laptop would brick it through their own software!
That’s why I’ve settled on MSI every time.
Yeah it’s not acceptable about hinges going so quick, is that the only major problem with MSI?
This isn’t a fanboy post, I’m just a bit of a noob and trying to understand why people are saying don’t buy MSI on an MSI subreddit.
I am slightly regretting buying a new MSI laptop with better specs last week and now the older MSI laptop hinge is starting to make a funny sound. 😅
Cheers!
I'm considering buying one but all I've heard is that it doesn't have g-sync
MSI Raider GE78HX 14V. Specs are as followed i9 14900hx, 32gb ram, RTX 4080 AND 2TB SSD
I was looking at a new laptop for school and gaming, my current laptop is on its last breaths and is getting really shitty. I found that msi laptops are usually very cheap compared to hp/asus/lenovo that too with higher specs. But are they long lasting cause im in my 2nd year of college i need ut to last atleast 3-4 years. Same goes for acer
Willing to buy a gamer laptop and I found one for 1250$ with an RTX 3070 and an i7 11th gen, but my sister says she doesn't know this brand.
I don't know if it matters, but is MSI a good, trustable brand? I wanna smuggle the laptop from the USA so that probably has to be taken in consideration
Hi! I don't know a ton about computers or laptops, so any help would be appreciated.
I am looking at an MSI Thin Gaming Laptop with these specs:
15.6"
Intel i7-13620H
16 GB RAM
1TB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050
I am a writer, but also don't go out too much, and would still like a laptop so I can travel. My desktop is old, and I'm looking for a laptop that can run DS and GBA Pokémon games. The one Steam game I've been playing a lot recently is Phasmophobia, and I usually don't play anything too crazy like AAA Shooters.
I see some bad things like battery life and Cooling issues, but I don't plan on gaming on it all day, and it will still be plugged in most of the time. Should I get it or are there more issues with this brand I don't know about?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Im looking to get a new laptop mainly for trading and some light gaming, but I remember reading that MSI used to be notorious for having crappy hinges that would break, and really poor repair services. Have these aspects improved? My last laptop was the Clevo M860TU, a 2009 laptop :/.
Im eying the MSI stealth. I dont get why its so much more expensive than other models like the leopard and say the pulse series. The only things I see as an improvement over the "lower" models is that the GS77 has a larger battery and a 1440screen instead of just a 1080p one. prices jump nearly 800 dollars more for comparable models (17inch)
As the title says, I bought an MSI laptop in 2019, (specifically a gp63 leopard 8re), but I'm planning on upgrading to a new one this black friday if I find a good enough sale.
But I've been watching a lot of videos about the best gaming laptops this year and there's barely any MSI laptops, it's mostly ASUS and LENOVO, is there any reason why? Did MSI laptops got more expensive, less quality or just not worth it compared to these other brands?
And if so, is LENOVO a good alternative to switch from MSI? I really liked MSI as the brand of my main laptop, but if this has changed in the last few years I don't want to miss out just by staying with the same brand for the rest of years, so would love to hear other's opinions
Hello everyone! I am trying to buy a new laptop for work (I'm a researcher and I am looking at the Prestige series). However, not being a gamer, I am new to the MSI brand. Is it a trustworthy company? Are the laptops components safe and certified? Are the laptops
I am not buying this rn but are msi laptops good?

I read in reddit that msi laptops are having a bad build quality and hinges are also of bad quality as it breaks within a year or two. So I'm worried because I am having a very compact budget of 1.5 lakh ( roughly around $1700-1800) and other brands like asus and lenevo are offering similar specs in high price.
I’ve owned a low end MSI (a GF63 Thin) for about 5 years now. It’s been through a lot in that time, and still runs just as well as the day I got it. I’m upgrading soon, and I’m kinda shocked that it’s considered a bad laptop model and that MSI isn’t really held in any positive regard. Should I upgrade to a model from a different manufacturer?
So I am a student who is going to go to college this year. I am looking at the msi crosshair 16hx i7 14700hx and 4060 (240hz) and the acer predator helios neo 16 i7 14700hx and 4060. I have concerns on msi laptops reliability . I hope you all can give me some advice and share your personal experiences with msi laptops and assure me that I am making a correct decision buying this laptop
