I have used Pandora, but I thought I'd try this and I thought it was included in Prime. The next day I got an email stating: "Your subscription costs $0.00 for the first 3 months and then $9.99 per month after,"

I thought it was included? Is there a "lite" version I am thinking of, or one with commercials or something?

Amazon Music prime subscription is free for prime members. It’s the same concept as Pandora, you can shuffle playlist and stations, but you can’t play songs on demand as far as I know. You must have inadvertently subscribed to the Amazon Music unlimited plan, which is paid for everyone. Prime members have a discount though.

Prime using to include about 2m songs ad free but it's not been like that doe a couple of years. If you're a prime member you get a discount on an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription.
