What is the NWJS virus and how can I protect my computer from it? • Physics Forums
February 9, 2024 - That icon and process is linked to the nw.js project, which is a NodeJS container that is bundled in a sandboxed chromium environment. I've actually contributed to this codebase a long time ago. So it could be that you're using a program that is deployed as an application with nwjs, or it could be that it's an actual virus that has an icon and process name of nwjs.

r/WindowsHelp on Reddit: What is this nwjs program and how do I delete it?
April 27, 2023 -
This nwjs program appears to share a name with Nwjs.exe which is a Trojan virus, however as far as I can tell from my (admittedly limited) information these two programs are not the same. I cannot find definitive information as to whether or not this is a harmful program, however, and I have found even less information on how to safely remove it.
From what I have gathered this nwjs I am dealing with is just a javascript tool or something like that and it's ultimately harmless apart from the mental damage I get every time I see a new ad pop up. I have no idea how this got on my system, it's been on here for a good month at least I'd say.
The ad I have been getting spammed with Top answer 1 of 2

Hi u/Lostmaniac9 , thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp ! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX" Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About" What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution! Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us! Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here . All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like r/Windows . App is seen as trojan horse by F-Secure antivirus · Issue #5457 · nwjs/nw.js
But we tested it on a computer with F-Secure antivirus installed and it was seen als a trojan horse so it didn't want to run. Is there a way this can be resolved in code, do we need to provide a workaround for our users and does anyone know other anti virus software that could be a problem when using nw.js?
