Hi everyone,
I bought a home from family that has a basement with a Bose surround sound setup, but I’m having trouble identifying what system it is. I’ve attached a picture of one of the 6 surround sound speakers to this post and a picture of the sub in the comments hoping someone will know what it is.
It is currently wired up to a Devon AVR-X1600H receiver, which was purchased within the last 3 years.
I am by no means experienced in anything audio, but something about the setup just doesn’t sound right. Voices seem to echo a bit while watching sports and the dialogue during movies is a little drowned out by the background noise. I am wondering if this system has (and will) stand the test of time, if i need to adjust the settings on the Denom receiver, or if I should upgrade it to something more modern altogether.
If I can provide more details please let me know, as I said I am not very experienced in this category of technology. Thank you!

They are just satellite speakers that plug into the base module. They are probably fine and will be fine forever. I’d say it’s a setting on the receiver.

April 29, 2017 - Thanks Grandmaster, The receiver does not have any digital inputs and the Bose surround system has 9 speakers (18 wires) the digital to analog converter you mentioned only has 2 sockets, think I need 18... ... The DAC converts the digital out of the TV to an analog input for the receiver. The speakers connect to that receiver not to the DAC. Getting a receiver with a digital input will provide digital surround sound which your old one won't.
