Context I have always heard of Open Box is a great especially if it’s grated as Excellent so I went to Best Buy to get a OLED monitor Open Box and then when I got home hooked it up I saw the most discoloration and burn mark on screen. So I return it for exchange had to go to a different Best Buy Location for the exchange. When I was able to I asked the employee to check for me so it doesn’t happen again since this location was a farther location. He just turned it on and said it was good, I told him can he plug in a HDMI or something to double check but he refused. So had to drive back home to install it again just to have it the same issue but not as serve as the last one but this frustrated me more cause I feel like Best Buy doesn’t check the product. And all they can do is just offer you a return and suggest to buy a brand new one at this point which was $700 more. That whole experience felt scummy likely the pushed me to get the expensive item and only offered me $100 off my inconvenience. Just want to vent that out of my experience and see if anyone has something similar

Hello all!
I found a great deal on a Lenovo Slim 7 for around $400 less than retail value at Best Buy open-box.
Is this something that is trustable for buying a gaming laptop?
Thanks!
Basically I came across this device on bestbuy's website and the deal looks too good to be true. So, i have 2 questions to ask
Is this a great deal?
Is it safe to buy open box from bestbuy? Can anyone share their experience if they have purchased an open box from bestbuy before? Are they reliable?
This would be Bestbuy Canada since im from Canada Link to the product -

Though it was worth a shot to save $115 on an X with an open box. Like often recommended I opened at the store to make sure it looked good and it did. However I made the mistake of not turning it on. I got home then turned it on and let it update. I left the room briefly only to hear the sound of a dying cow groaning behind me. Once I set it up even in idle "Silent" mode it was very audible. I don't know if this horrible coin whine or bad bearings or what.
I returned it and just bought a brand new one which is far quieter and no groan. Best Buy didn't give me a hard time but the employee didn't appear to take note of why I returned it. Hopefully they don't try to sell it again.
My local Best Buy has a pretty sweet deal on an open-box 75” Sony X95K (46% off MSRP), and they rate it as “excellent” condition, but not certified. I’m assuming it was a display model. Anyways, should I take the risk, what could go wrong? Returns are accepted so if it has a dead pixel or whatever I can bring it back. Would appreciate any input!
I was able to pick up a "Fair Condition" Ally for $460 at my local Best Buy. I know people here are stressing picking up an Excellent, but wanted to offer up an experience from someone who often buys used Fair during sales to maximize value.

You can return anything bought at Best Buy during holidays up until Mid January. This includes open box stock.

Most "Fair" stock means no original box and/or missing part. It does not mean it is broken in anyway.

My item was PRISTINE. Basically brand new but came with no box, no power supply. I bought an Anker 100W for $24 which IMO is better than the included and I'm going to use a dock for TV anyway.

YMMV, but I've bought a ton of items marked Fair from Best Buy and it has never been an issue. They are NOT final sale, so worst case scenario you can return if not up to snuff.
Anyone have good or bad experiences with buying Open Box deals from Best Buy? I would only go with "excellent" condition - so likely new but either a display laptop or returned, but obviously some risk involved.
Anybody buy open box fair speakers from BestBuy? There’s some R11’s at a store about 40 miles from so would be a trip but they are under $1000 each. Just wondering people’s experience with the condition and if it’s worth it for me to drive out there
I’m not sure if this is against the rules but, I’m looking at a laptop thats sold as open box excellent and I’m wondering if its worth it to save money by getting it or just saving up more to get a brand new one. Thanks.
Just wanted to vent a little.
Went to bestbuy online and saw a great deal on the new LG 5k2k monitor, open box, inspected by Geek squad to be excellent condition. I purchased it online and drove about 30 miles to pick it up
Once I get there to pick it up, I asked them to open the box so we can inspect it to verify its all good. Box gets opened, looks a bit dirty and box shredded. I immediately notice the stand is the wrong one, and they tried to reassure me it was the correct stand (It was last years model) --- then I verified the model number, and it was infact last years OLED model, that had lower resolution. After all that, I got a return, and got a "we're sorry", and thats it. Wasted time, gas, patience.
"Geek squad verified" -- what a joke. How can they say they verified it, when it was literally the wrong monitor in the box? Clearly the person who returned it, kept the newer model and returned his old one.
