I agree it can get very overwhelming. And to further complicate things, “organic cotton” sheets doesn’t mean that they are necessarily GOTS certified although they often are. Coyuchi makes very nice, organic/GOTS certified percale and flannel sheets but they’re somewhat overpriced so always best to wait for sales. On the cheaper side of the spectrum, target Threshold, California Design Den and Ikea all do very reasonably priced organic, GOTS certified percale sheets. They’re all good no frills every day sheets. If you’re spending more than $100 on a set I’d recommend only buying from companies with a generous return policy that allows you to wash and use the sheets and still be eligible for full refund if you don’t like them. If money is no object then I would definitely not go with Pure Parima. There's a lot of hype about it online which may or may not be manufactured and finding real, honest opinions on it seems to be a bit hard to do, honestly. Usually when that happens I become wary about the brand and the phrase "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" in this instance tends to ring true, imo. Pure Parima DNA-tests that their cotton is true Giza Egyptian Cotton, which is nice, but what they also don't tell you is that not all true Giza Egyptian Cotton is created equally: sometimes you have shitty plantations along the Nile River Valley that grow their cotton (that's technically real Giza Egyptian Cotton) with the worst silt deposits or poor soil and that affects the quality of the cotton. A lot of factors have to be met to be considered high-quality Giza Egyptian Cotton, and the highest quality Giza Egyptian Cotton you can get is Giza 45. If you want the best Egyptian Cotton quality in sheets you'll have to pay a premium for it. Most true Giza 45 sheet sets that are good quality will start around $1,000 King-sized. If it's cheaper than that then there's a good chance the quality of the cotton/craftsmanship of the sheets is lacking in some way. Some brands for reference that have high-quality Giza 45 sheets: Sferra, Castello Home, Home Treasures. There, of course, is lower quality Giza cotton (Giza 87 and Giza 88) but they're nothing to sneeze at, either, and Matouk has a Giza 87 cotton set (Gatsby I think is what it's called) that's pretty nice, too. All of these options are extra-long staple Giza cotton (which is the pinnacle) and are single-ply yarns (which is what you want) so they're definitely about the best that's available in the cotton industry. Pure Parima might claim they're true Egyptian Cotton and are extra-long staple, but they don't list what ply it is (which is very important), nor what grade of Giza Cotton it is. Just doing some rudimentary research I found an article from Good Housekeeping that noted that the Pure Parima set they tested (along with many other brands) didn't really stand out among the others, so I think that would be the opinion to trust currently with everything else taken into account. If it didn't wow GH compared to a bunch of other brands then that's probably the truth (GH is one of the few expert opinions that actually carries any weight in my opinion these days, but we'll see how long that lasts... there's a lot of sell-outs in this industry these days, sadly). Realistically if you want a good, solid Egyptian Cotton set that is extra-long staple and single-ply then prices are going to start at about $500 and if you want a really great Egyptian Cotton set that is extra-long staple, single-ply Giza 45/87/88... that's gonna be about 1k or thereabouts to start. Usually if it's cheaper than those 'start' prices then either the quality isn't as good as it could be, or someone is fudging the truth about some aspect (like with how Pure Parima doesn't list what ply the sheets are or what the quality/grade the Giza Cotton is). Be suspicious of everything---and if you can---order swatches from bedding websites (like Matouk or Sferra, etc) so you can see for yourself what the quality is like on the sheet, though that will probably put you back some money since the swatches aren't free. If you have a specialty linen store in the area, though, that would be your best bet as they most likely have swatches of the more primo and popular brands so you can judge for yourself (as well as dedicated experts that have their fingers on the pulse of what does well and what has issues among their customers).
