Replacement for classic Tempur-pedic mattress?
A new same style mattress would almost certainly be better, because what you're seeing is normal wear on a mattress. The repeated compression/rebound cycles break the foams down over time and they effectively soften up.
The Tempur you'd buy today won't be quite as high quality as the one you bought 17 years ago though. They purposely lowered the foam densities in that bed to reduce cost to manufacture and lifespan.
But you have WAY more choices than you had 17 years ago! There are hundreds in online companies, and most have a memory foam or memory foam hybrid if you want to stay with memory foam.

Is it possible a new same style mattress would be better (assuming the current mattress lost support over time) or do we need to select a firmer mattress?
