You can't do much with it, but it's 384ths of an oz. Formulas scale well across quarts, gallons and 5gal but the 8oz samples can cut them down low enough to be skipped and affect the color. With this you'll be able to compare colors and say you want a little less green or whatever. CL= yellow oxide LL= raw umber VL= magenta JL= Carbazole purple EL= phthalo blue IL= brown iron oxide RL= permanent red DL= phthalo green TL= medium yellow FL= red iron oxide BL= black KXL= white AXL= permanent yellow. The pigments with a U in them is high hide. All pigments have an L at the end which means Low voc. *Pulled from another site so it may have errors but I used to mix paint at HD and looks close enough. Answer from abductee92 on reddit.com

What is the 'Paint Code'?
Formulas are typically not transferable. Most often a color would just need to be re-matched in the new color system to create a new formula. So when someone asks you for the paint code, ask for clarification for what they need.

The fundamental issue should be that your mixed sample matches the color chip. Or the mixed quart or gallons matches the color chip. Should always ask for a lil bit of paint dried out on a card so you can compare - that's called a draw-down. Most paint counters automatically do that for us, but sometimes you have to ask.

Hey Krf… the "shots" are whatever increments the original tinting machine was calibrated to (48ths, 64ths, whatever…), so, let's say they were 48ths - the formula would be AXN - 29/48ths + 1/96th…(probably exterior yellow) B - 7 ounces + 23/48ths…(black) I - 1 ounce + 35/48ths + 1/96th…(probably Iron Oxide) KX - 9/48ths + 1/96th…(probably titanium white) Note: Now this is interesting…when I answered this question a couple of minutes ago, there were no other responses…methinks me puter is playing games with me...
