Last year, I lived in Greenville and paid my vehicle property tax to Greenville County in April. I moved to Easley at the beginning of this year and changed my license and registration to reflect that. I received a tax bill for my vehicle from Greenville County since it's time to pay again, despite having changed everything over to Pickens County/Easley a couple months ago. My question is since I no longer live in Greenville County, do I still pay the bill from them? Or do I pay a visit to the Pickens County Tax Collector's office and have them generate a bill from Pickens County?
Thanks for all the help, either way I'm probably going to give them a call but wanted to check here first since it isn't dire.
I’m going to be moving to SC next month from GA. Taxes are very different in GA. Can anyone tell me how I can get a rough estimate on how much I’m going to pay? Also is it paid all at once or is it like a monthly charge?
When you bring a car from out of state they charge you an additional $300 in a one time fee on top of the other taxes.
Hello fellow GA to SC transplant. First off, welcome and hope you enjoy Greenville as much as we have. We moved from the northern ATL suburbs to the Simpsonville area and we’ve never looked back with any regret. We pay around $150 a year for our 2012 vehicles. Most we’ve ever paid was around $300 for a vehicle that was a few years old and worth around $25k. One thing that works differently here is that you have to make two stops to get your plate. First you go to the county tax office and pay your taxes. Then you take your receipt to the DMV to actually get your plate. But, no emissions testing!
You have to pay tax on your already bought vehicles every year in SC? What in the world, lol.
