r/paypal on Reddit: Pay in 4 for Walmart solution
January 12, 2024 -

I’m not sure if this is useful for anyone, but I saw some older posts about it. I found out that if you hit remember my billing when adding your PayPal to Walmart pay in 4 will not pop up. You have to load PayPal without saving it.

I learned the hard way on Sunday, still dealing with it to a degree. What I will do from now on if I want to make a Walmart online purchase with PayPal is to remove PayPal altogether from my payment method and then add it before purchase. That way it should go to my PayPal page before the order goes through and allow me to choose Pay in 4 if available or PayPal Credit, etc... FYI for everyone: if you have already used PayPal even 1 time on your Walmart.com account, if you just click on order the item you want it will automatically go through. And good luck trying to get it cancelled. You need to remove PayPal as the option then add it again before ordering the product.

March 16, 2024 - I think so. You need to spend at least $100 in order to use Affirm. A different pay later service. That’s my experience. ... Same here. After I updated the Walmart App, I am no longer able to use the pay for 4 option. The "Remember Me" PayPal button option is gone.

r/paypal on Reddit: Unable to use PayPal Pay in 4 for Walmart purchases suddenly.
October 7, 2022 -

This may be a walmart issue but since there isn't really a good place to post this elsewhere i'm posting here.

I often pre-order items through walmart's online store. Sometimes the total cost is high enough to warrant using Pay Pal's pay in 4 option. I've used this many times in the past, as recently as a month ago, but for some reason am no longer seeing that option.

Just figured i'd check and see if anyone had similar issues or had any idea what the problem could be.

My paypal account is in good standing and the total costs of my orders are over the $30 mark to qualify for pay in 4.

September 7, 2024 -

I like using the pay in four option. However, I noticed when I tried to make a purchase at Walmart using the pay in 4 app, it automatically forces you into curbside pickup. Does anyone happen to know a way that you can make a purchase instantly using pay in four and not have to wait all day for it or possibly even the next day? Does anyone know how this is done?

You would think that if you're trying to buy something with whatever payment method you're using, it should be instant like. Why should you have to wait for an associate to gather your items for you. You should be able to get it now just like cash or a credit card

My guess , and it is a guess that buried in the rules and regulations of offering and getting credit - Gonna be a funky rule, ID check or something like that and a move to curbside ; they can do their Government mandated checks This is total guess ; but they are takin you aside or moving the transaction for a reason, an has to be credit or fraud /anti-fraud measure. Its Walmart they would have staff working 24 hour shifts wearing leg irons if it were legal - so has to be for something like that.

r/CreditCards on Reddit: Walmart.com and discount stores no longer eligible for Paypal 5% grocery
June 6, 2025 -

Finally, the expected nerfing of the PayPal debit card begins!

Walmart.com and others like Target (discount store with MCC 5310) used to qualify for 5% cashback under groceries with PayPal debit card. However, they no longer qualify under the grocery category. Will check in store Walmart purchase today and update(I think in store still qualify as it uses different MCC which is eligible). Wholesale clubs (MCC 5300) are still eligible as of June 2025, but I expect this to nerf soon.

Please share your observations. Am currently looking for the best card for Walmart.com.

Edit: Walmart in-store purchase at self checkout - Both walmart pay and physical card still works for 5% back as of June 2025.

Edit2: Walmart need to come up with its own 5% card soon. Been long since the break up with C1. Can’t imagine how the biggest retailer in US has not been able to find a bank to partner and neither it is accepting Apple pay/google pay. I know there are some talks going between Walmart and Synchrony but not sure what’s the status.

r/paypal on Reddit: 20% Cash Back Pay In 4 - Can someone explain how this works?

I've been an eBay seller for about 15 years now and exclusively use PayPal through eBay but have never used the pay in 4 option before. I really have 2 questions, i got far enough in the checkout screen where the next click will complete the transaction but i don't see the cash back banner anywhere how do i know that it will be applied to my order?

Also to be clear this is interest fee correct? I suppose the cash back would be more than the interest but i don't use BNPL services because they have interest built into the cost and as I always have fluid funds from sales I don't have issues paying up front but as far as I can tell this is almost just "free" 20% back because the 4 payments dont appear to add any interest?

Thanks for the help!

In preparation for Chase's next quarter 5% categories, does anyone know if you can use Wal-Mart Pay with PayPal added as the payment method for in-store purchases?

I know for sure it works when making purchases online but I can't find a recent data point for using it in-store. Last year it did not work and kept asking me to add a payment method when trying to scan the QR code.

Does anyone know how to successfully use pay in four to purchase something from Walmart. I've done it a few different times but every single time I tried to do it it always acts like I'm trying to do a curbside pickup order and they always tell me I have to wait several hours or till the next day to receive my item because it's not ready. Does anyone know how you can place an order and be able to pick it up right? When you show up right off the shelf? Do I have to pay for the item right in the store and pick pay in four so I can receive the item

r/CreditCards on Reddit: Walmart online total is more when choosing PayPal as payment method
September 25, 2024 -

Checking out with PayPal in Walmart is a bad idea. I recently got the PayPal Mastercard credit card because I thought I would get 3% back on Walmart orders (during quarters when my discover doesn’t give 5% back). The total was $4.02 when I had a regular credit card as payment method but it increased to $4.21 when I chose PayPal. I guess using paypal for security purposes is okay but in my case it defeats the purpose of the cash back reward.

Has anyone else notice this? There are so many glitches in the Walmart app and most of them involve increases in totals (like the Walmart cash rewards increasing totals rather than showing as a credit for example).

I am in need of a few items right now and would like to use pay in 4 to help me out until next pay day. I have used it on walmart.com before with zero issues. Now it won't even come up, is it not a payment offer anymore?

If not, I need to find a solution where it could work. Is it possible to purchase gift cards somewhere with pay in 4?

YES, Pay in 4 AND monthly payments (has interest) works for the 20% back. It's in the terms and conditions. No gift cards can't be done for cash back on any payment plan.

I have been trying all day to get this 20% off promotion. finally saw the pay in 4 does not work in Missouri. When I went back to retail site to make a purchase, I now no longer have the option to pay monthly, either. I reread the fine print and found “There is a maximum total of 2 billion (2,000,000,000) points available under this offer for all Eligible Participants who have saved the offer and made an Eligible Purchase”. i guess this is why I no longer see the option t9 pay monthly to get deal. Can anyone confirm, please?
