I've had 4 Pendelton blankets for about ~6 years now. Initially, we only used them at the house, as we looked at them as luxury blankets. After about a year of treating them like porcelain, we started taking them camping with our dogs. They look as good now after years of all-around use (camping, picnics at parks, on the bed in winter, etc.) and they are not 'scratchy' at all. I think we've only soaked one of the blankets because it got a bunch of mud on it, but regular hanging outside and smacking the dust off has kept them pristine. I don't see them showing any real signs of wear in years. My down comforters, however, usually last 4-5 years. The Pendelton blankets also look a hell of a lot cooler than your standard white comforter, so there's also an aesthetic bonus. More on reddit.com

Dunno your situation, but if I were living out of my car, I probably wouldn't be buying expensive blankets. Go for military surplus wool blankets. They'll last just as long and are just as warm. More on reddit.com
