My thoughts... 110% opinion, just what's in my head when I search for a domain: Stay away from hyphens in your domain Stay away from numbers in your domain Stay away from words that are numbers (five, ten, etc.), in your domain (I find that telling people your domain with these can complicate things; i.e., 'is that a 5 or f.i.v.e.?) Stay away from any of these TLDs (these change over time - dig around this site): https://www.spamhaus.org/statistics/tlds/ Pick a TLD / registrar with solid WHOIS privacy capabilities Pick a reputable registrar (I use Gandi.net ... you'll have 1M opinions on this topic) Don't buy a domain at the same place where you host your website Setup auto-renew Buy a domain for several years out (my personal domain just renewed for 10 more years) Don't over think it and have fun ;) That's off the top of my head. People will have many many opinions on what I just typed. Hopefully, something resonates with you and is useful. There's no right answer here for the name you pick. The one's above that are "recommended" or I feel like will have a general consensus? 4, 5, 6, and 7.
