The Home Depot app is very disorientated. I shop there a lot for being a painter, and color matching on the fly is crucial. I can't find any tool they offer in the home depot app. It's beyond frustrating More on reddit.com

Sherwin Williams will give you a color book for free if you ask, especially if you say that you will return it when you’re done. Hold the color deck up to the wall and look for the color that best matches. Expect to paint the whole wall is it will not work if you’re trying to touch up. For $60 sherwin sells a color match tool that you place on the wall, press a button, and it tells you the closest match. Again, expect to paint the whole wall. But the color deck method is easy and free if you explain your situation. Even better if you can, peel off a small chip with a razor blade. Take it to sherwin, they will color match it with their really expensive machine. This is the best way. Then patch the very small chip you made (unless you can chip a piece in an inconspicuous spot) More on reddit.com

The "Ink n Paint" shader is generally used for this kind of thing- plug your diffuse map into the main color channel, and choose your color for the shading.
You can also tick the box for "Ink" below it if you want toon lines on your model.

Hello
Im reading online, and have chatted with an HD associate that home depot has or had an app that allows you to take a picture of your walls and it can color match the paint.
I am on Android and the app should be called HD Project color? Ive seen it in articles with the HD completely spelled out as well.
As of today it does not come up in Google Play, for me. Ive tried using a browser where the article leaves the Play Store link so you just have to click, it says item not found in the Play Store after it redirects me.
I have the Home Depot App, but when navigating I didn't find a page or feature where you are taking pictures and matching paint.
Can anyone find that app on the Play Store? Or does anyone know if that feature is now in the Home Depot app? Or does it have a different name?
I would really love to utilize this and dont really have any paint chips i can bring in.

I had the same issue (I was searching for the paint match app in August 2024). I used to have the app so I went in my history and redownloaded it because it wasn’t coming up anywhere and as soon as it redownloaded there was a pop up saying the app was retired in March 2024!
