I'm due for a new mattress and the Purple mattress has always been intriguing. Any idea how this mattress performs for heavy people?

Sounds pretty childish but I just received delivery of my king sized hybrid restore and didn’t get the mini bed made out of the gel grid, sort of bummed out about it and considering contacting CS to see if they can send me one(assuming they still do and mines just didn’t have it). But I noticed all the reviews/videos where it came with the mattress were all taken about 3 years ago. Is this still a thing purple does?
Looking for a new mattress. Went to mattress firm and tried all their hybrids (my preferred, as I don't like the traditional kind and I don't like full memory foam). I laid on the newer purple restore and my back pain was instantly gone. I was just about sold until I started reading people's experiences. I really don't ant to go through the hassle of replacing a mattress that's going to sink in. So I laid on the tempurpedic pro adapt in medium (too expensive, and the one I liked was slightly too soft) and the sealy posturepedic plus in firm (the lady said I wasn't aligned, so slightly too soft). I didn't mind either of these, but neither felt as good as the purple.
So I'm wondering, has anyone had a good experience with them? Or if not, are there any mattresses that have a similar feeling? I'm getting overwhelmed with options.
I have loved my og original purple mattress from 2017, it has survived several moves, being thrown down stairwells (on moving day when elevator was broken 😞) and some serious spills. I’ve done my best to take care of it but I fear some pet messes and a tipped beer or 2 may have finally gotten the best of my mattress. I might slice it open to attempt a deep clean, but I noticed purple is running a sale online and I think it’s time to replace it, I heard they last about ten years and honestly 6-7 is good enough for me at this point.
I chatted with a support rep and they said the model “purple mattress” is closest to the og original, which I love it has truly helped my back and made sleeping so much more comfortable for me. Is this correct, the og model is pretty much same as current regular “purple mattress” model?
The rep gave me a code to use and I can get the regular purple queen size for $800 and the $10 CA recycling fee or whatever else they tack on. That’s pretty good and I think I will buy.
Does anyone have a serious reason I should swing for the purple plus? I could do $400 more if it’s worth it but if I like the OG original so much I don’t see the need for the premiere premium $3000 models right now, maybe next time haha 😆
Are their pillows anything crazy to spring for also? I might get their mattress protector and some accessory type stuff too. Any insight would be appreciated thank you! I have an ikea slat bed frame that works great with it so I don’t need a base or anything extra they sell. Besides maybe a pillow or protector
We were trying to compare prices at Costco with prices of other mattress stores. Couldn't find a good comparison. Has anyone tried this; is it a good deal?
Update Post
I recently bought a house and decided to upgrade my mattress. Easy decision, right? WRONG!!! Like many of you, I have been absolutely agonizing over picking the “best” mattress. I’ve been to every mattress store in my vicinity, twice or even three times. I’ve read hundreds (thousands?) of reviews and Reddit threads. I don’t understand how I’ve gone so deep into the rabbit hole. I’m miserable! How did mattress shopping become one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make? I’m at my wits end. I’m about to give up and sleep on the floor at this point. (I know I’m being dramatic, but for crying out loud, why is this such a difficult decision?)
I understand that reviews are subjective and NO mattress will be perfect. But what I don’t understand is how convoluted this industry has become. It’s confusing and frustrating. All I want is a good quality mattress that will last for a long time. I don’t want to contribute more to landfills by buying cheap foam that will disentegrate in a few years.
I started out with a budget, but at this point, I’m willing to spend more just to be done with this madness. I’ve narrowed it down to buying from Costco due to their generous return policy, good prices, and reviews.
I’ve narrowed it down to:
-Kirkland Stearns & Foster Lakeridge -Beauty Rest BRS900 -Sealy Posturepedic Carver -Sealy Posturepedic Mt Auburn
My criteria:
-Under $1500 preferably -Medium to firm -Sleeps cool -Good for side sleepers
PLEASE provide your input. Anything. I’m almost certain I’ll choose the Kirkland Stearns & Foster, but I just need some reassurance. I’m ready for this decision to be done. Thank you in advance and Godspeed to anyone beginning the mattress buying journey. You’ll need it 😂
Edit: THANK YOU to everyone who responded. Advice, tips, solidarity in the hellscape that is mattress shopping, and those telling me to end my misery and make up my mind. Truly, thank you. It helps knowing I’m not alone in the world of all things mattress. I purchased the Kirkland Stearns & Foster Lakeridge this evening. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Of course now I have to hope I made the right decision! 😂 at least it is done. I will post an update in a while.
Hello,
I am looking for a soft queen mattress that can keep cool (located in South California). I’ve heard of purple, and found that they have one at Costco here: https://www.costco.com/purplerenew-11-gel-grid-mattress.product.4000181704.html . I was wondering if this is what I am looking for, or if there are any differences between the purple website, or a different brand I have considered.
I currently have the Novafoam from Costco, and it’s very firm and causes some joint pain in my legs.
Thank you!!
Hello, everyone ! I am looking to buy a good mattress and some real good quality pillows since my partner and I have had some of the worst sleepless nights due to our Walmart mattress and pillows haha. I really want to get a mattress that is for side and stomach sleepers and that help me sleep ! Has anyone had experience with Purple? I am thinking of going with the cheaper route as well with a Costco mattress so if you have a Costco mattress that you’ve enjoyed for side sleepers let me know . 🤗❤️
I’m interested in purchasing either the purple plus mattress or the purple renew mattress from Costco. Based on the descriptions, it sounds like the Renew mattress is the same as the Purple Plus mattress. Does anyone have any experience with the Renew mattress? Are they actually the same mattress? Is there a disadvantage purchasing the mattrss from Costco? It is a few hundred dollars cheaper and has better delivery/haul away options, so I’m tempted to buy the Costco Renew mattress.
