Thinking of upgrading my current rectangle extendable Ikea table to an oval table like this one from West Elm but does the rounded corners make it awkward to eat or do you feel that you lose space from it? This table is 86 inches long, and my Ikea one is 71 inches. I can fit three people comfortably on both ends with the IKEA one. The West elm table is longer, but am I losing space since the corners are rounded? Also would three people on both sides be too tight?

I have an oval pedestal table in my kitchen - it also has leaves to extend it if I need to. I think it's a terrific shape for a table, and the pedestal means nobody has to awkwardly squish in next to a table leg.
