Discussion - Ryzen 3700x Max Single Core Clock Speed ? | Tom's Hardware Forum
September 4, 2019 - Click to expand... That's what i get too... mostly 4.375 and 4.35 for max clocks although I do get 4.4 occasionally. Ryzen Max Clock is single core clock so that's be expected. Also, boosts to that speed are really short maybe a few milliseconds at most and only with plenty of thermal headroom.

Ryzen 3700x clock speeds?

4.4 is single core only

so ~ 4.2 is normal for multicore

Ryzen 7 3700x Safe OC
Download Prime95 and HWiNFO64. Go into your bios and enable Precision Boost Overdrive, leave every other CPU setting on auto. This will essentially remove all power limits from your CPU, allowing us to see what voltage we can use. Open up Prime95 and HWiNFO64, and within Prime95 click: Custom -> “Min FFT size” = 128 and “Max FFT size” = 128, make sure “Run FFTs in place” is selected. Within HWiNFO64, view the sensor that reads CPU Core Voltage (SVI2). MAKE SURE IT IS THE SVI2 SENSOR AS THIS IS THE MOST ACCURATE SENSOR. Allow Prime95 to run for 5-10 minutes, and whatever the lowest value the SVI2 sensor reads is your fit voltage. Now you might be asking: what is fit voltage? Fit voltage is the maximum safe voltage that your CPU can run 24/7 without any degradation. Most Zen 2 processors tend to have a fit voltage of anywhere from 1.25v to 1.32v. Now that you have your fit voltage, go into your bios, disable Precision Boost Overdrive, and set your voltage to that value, and in the box that reads CPU multiple type 42.00x. This means that your CPU will be running at 4.2 GHz. It’s read as a multiple because your motherboard’s BCLK clock speed is 100 MHz, and BCLK clock speed * CPU multiplier = CPU speed (i.e. 100 MHz * 42.00 = 4200 MHz, or 4.2 GHz). If this boots, open HWiNFO and check the SVI2 voltage sensor and your CPU speed. If everything has the correct value, then open Prime95 and run a Small FFT test (maximum power/heat/CPU stress). While this is running, check HWiNFO to make sure the temperature doesn’t get too high (I would say anywhere from 75C-85C is ok). If the test runs for an hour straight without crashing, then it should be stable. If it doesn’t (it probably should as 4.2 GHz isn’t too high of a value for a 3600), then decrease the multiplier to around 41.50x. If it does pass the test, then you can go higher if you like. Try going in smaller increments, such as 42.50x. You can keep going until it crashes, then just decrease the value to the previously known maximum. If you would like an example for a Ryzen 5 3600 overclock, I’m running at 1.28v at 4.4 GHz. More on reddit.com

r/Amd on Reddit: Ryzen 3700x clock speeds?
October 17, 2019 -

Recently got a 3700x and I've been playing around with the settings.

I tried manual OC but it wasn't worth it for me so I just went with Precision Boost Overdrive and my CPU is just hitting 4.1-4.2 GHz under load. I have the same result with just the default (load optimized defaults) settings. The temps seem to be norma as when I was stress-testing it with Ryzen Master it hit 67 °C (I have a Coolermaster 120 Liquid Lite).

Additionally, I have a 2070 Super OC to 1995MHZ and 7900 on memory and 32 GB of Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 (16-18-18-36 stock, can OC to 3600 16-17-16-36, tried both), mobo is Aorus Elite x570 with the latest BIOS.

Have got the latest Win10 and AMD drivers so I was wondering, are those low clocks normal or did I just get really unlucky with my chip?

I anyone would know how to fix it or get some better performance out of it I would really abranchiate it!

Update:

For some reason, PBO was limiting my frequencies to like 4.1 or 4.2 at times but cracking the voltage way up, causing my temps to reach 75 degrees. So I disabled it and tried manual OC. Rn running 4.3 stable on all cores with 1.328V I think and RAM is at 3600 16-17-18-18-36 1.37V

Cinabench score is now 5050 or higher consistently. And the themps are around 70 now not 75 so idk what was causing PBO to do that.

Don't know if others have experienced that with PBO or I'm just very unlucky.

3700X cannot reach 4.4Ghz boost clock. Is it my Motherboard? | Overclock.net
Obviously, it won't boost to that clock speed under heavy work load but it doesn't have to be idle so run a lightly threaded work load; a quick-scan in Defender works pretty well. Since it boosts pretty quickly a faster than normal polling period also helps, I use a polling period of about 500 mSec's in HWInfo. Then look at the multiplier graph for each of the cores and watch which ones boost to 4400. This assumes you've installed the AMD chipset drivers and are running the Ryzen Balanced power plan.
