I think this phone should have been the S20, maybe with a glass back instead. It’s a good price with good specs. Considering you have to choose between a high resolution or high refresh rate there is no point in having a higher resolution. Also I’m sure there’s a very negligible difference in the main shooters. Eh, imma do mine here too Build - Don't know Don't care, I use a casing and a screen protector Performance - Supports normal media consumption quite fluidly, games work fine with no frame rate drops. Does heat quite a little when playing heavy games like Minecraft Screen - FHD+ is noticibly a downgrade from my previous phone, which has a QHD+ display, but it's ok and doesn't matter for me too much. Saturation could be more but its fine. 120hz is smooth and fluid Battery - Getting around 6-7h sot everyday (heavy user here), not bad, quite impressive. I charge overnight here but no noticeable degrade here Haptics - It is good even when I'm using a thicc casing Camera - The best part of this phone, the saturation is alright for me and the quality is very crisp, 👍👍. Best part of the phone imo Conclusion - Yes, it can be better in a lot of ways, the touchscreen issues are still there but is less often now. Overall a really good value phone. More on reddit.com

April 26, 2021Thinking of getting the s20 FE. Would you still recommend this phone in April(basically) 2022?
I got mine new, with fast charger + USB-C headphones for $500 about a year ago on eBay, so you should definitely be able to find it for cheaper than $600 new. I recently spent about a week comparing the camera to S22/Pixel6/iPhone 13, as they all had great trade in deals for the price I paid for my S20FE, but considering the camera is ALMOST as good as those 3, while none of them have an expandable storage slot, upgrading didn't make sense for me. It would have cost me $500+ to get a slighty better camera with same storage capacity, and I just don't take enough pictures and barely any video for that to be worth it. Even if I was a content creator, if I'm spending 1000+ on a device, it's probably not a phone camera...
If you're focused on Samsung, and want to save a few dollars, I'd recommend the S20FE (not 21FE cause no microSD slot) or maybe the S21 series over S22, or maybe even the new A53 or A73 if you don't NEED a flagship and want a phone that came out this year.

I was getting ready to move away from Samsung phones for the first time in my life because I didnt want to drop $1000 on the S20. Just saw that Samsung came out with the "FE" version of the phone which is $300 cheaper, has a better battery, and has an SD card slot. The only compromise I see is a lower resolution display and a not-quite-as-good rear camera (front camera actually seems to be better on the FE). Am I missing anything here guys?? Trying to make sure I do my due diligence and I research everything properly, so let me know if I've misstated anything or if there is anything else notable I haven't noted here.

The FE looks like a good value proposition, though I am a little worried about 6GB RAM and Gorilla Glass 3. Considering that this phone will get 3 major Android OS updates, I wonder how 6GB RAM will hold up 3 years from now. On a super cheap Pixel 4A, that was completely understandable, but this phone is still twice the price. Gorilla Glass 3 is from... like 4 years ago. As the previous poster mentioned, the plastic back may cause the phone to almost always fall flat on the screen when dropped. The weaker strength of the front glass means it would be more prone to damage. However, plastic back, on its own, is really no big deal at all. I would emphasize importance in having the back of the phone non slippery and matte finish so that the device is grippy without attracting fingerprints. Plastic is also less prone to breakage, and can be easily hidden with a case on, which virtually everyone uses anyway. The camera also has been slightly nerfed, but honestly, other than the reduced MP on the telephoto which still can do 3x optical zoom, I don't see it as a big deal. 1080p on a phone display is just fine. I have always run my Samsung phones from S8 to Note 20 Ultra at 1080p. There just aren't any useful benefits from 1440p: very limited video content in native 1440p, which excludes all streaming movies and TV shows. The only advantage, if one can even call it an advantage, is if the user likes to read tiny fonts inside thumbnails. Other than that, 1440p only serves to tease us, and once used, offers practically no tangible benefits at the cost of battery life. Other than these, I see no real compromises here. Snapdragon 865? Check. Wireless charging? Check. IP68? Check. 120hz? Check. FLAT display?? OMG Check. UFS 3.1? Check. MicroSD card expansion? Check. 5G? Check. Decent base storage at 128GB? Check. Great battery capacity? Check at 4,500 mAh. What more is there to ask for? Even the Gorilla Glass 3 isn't all that bad as I have not broken phone displays since Note 2 and a good case will prevent screen damage generally. Only the 6GB RAM is disappointing. Other than that, it seems like a great value. The added color option is certainly nice. Eventually it will be fun to compare the FE with Pixel 5.
