Seestar S30 Pro vs Seestar S50 - Smart Telescopes - Cloudy Nights
I am relatively new to this forum and I’m very excited about the upcoming S30 Pro. With that being said, in what areas/objects will the S50 still excel over the S30 Pro? Is there still a valid reason for me to hold onto my S50 if once I receive the S30 Pro? More on cloudynights.com

r/telescopes on Reddit: Seestar S30 vs S50
December 11, 2024 -
I currently own a Celestron NexStar 6SE, and I am looking at picking something up to try astrophotography. Both Seestars look like good places to start, but I do not know which one would be the better choice. My main reason for looking at these two scopes is their price. I would not have to make a huge investment, but I could begin learning how to take a process photos before moving on to a bigger, more expensive setup. Does anyone have a recommendation and why you would chose one over the other? Any information is greatly appreciated!

The S30 is a cheaper and more portable S50. Smaller aperture at same f-ratio, so similar exposure times but on a wider field (the sensors are not identical but very similar in size and resolution). Up to you what works better for you. A detailed rundown of the spec differences : https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAstrophotography/comments/1ggubfc/s30_vs_s50_specs/

November 21, 2024 - I have an S50, and studying the specs, reading comments in this place and 'reviews' on U-tube and elsewhere of the S30, I feel no compelling reason to add the S30 to my Seestar stable.
