It likely is jamming and tripping the motor/belt protection system. A jam could be due to a bad bearing, hair behind the brush roll cap, and so forth. It may still spin with such an issue, but be stiff and stop with the extra resistance from pulling the unit backwards. If you take it apart and remove the brush roll, the brush roll should spin freely. If it does not, then that is the problem. You may be able to feel it if you unplug the unit and spin the brush roll by hand, although it will be harder to tell with the gearing ratio of the brush roll to the motor. I have not seen your vacuum cleaner in person, but that is my best guess based on the description and my personal experience with repairing Sharks and other vacuum cleaners. You can get a new head for your model for $36 and they do sell the individual brush rolls for cheaper, although that will be more difficult to install and not as sure to solve the problem. Shark is not great about supplying individual parts, so unless you want a whole assembly, used parts are generally the way to go. More on reddit.com

The 2510SOUS is same as the 2501 - it's just a different color. The RV2500AE series share parts this includes: RV2500AE, RV2502AE and RV2502AECA AV2500AE, RV2500AE UR2500SR series. The AV/RV/UR/AI prefix are all the same. The xx25yy series have interchangable parts. RV2000 series is different- e.g .xx20yy series. RV2300 series is different - e.g. xx23yy series There is also a RV2800 series.. and the RV2600 series, and RV2400 series It's harder to distinguish between RV2000 series and older (so RV1000, RV100, Rv900, AV1000,.. RV900 , RV700, ) (which are all VLAM - camera based) and the RV2x00 series (2300,2400, 2500,2600,2800) - which seem to all be LIDAR based. Except some of the RV2400 series are camera based. WTF. Refer to this page - and pick the closest one.. and the parts will be compatible.e.g. brush rollers, dust bins, etc. sometimes the parts are shared across multiple families.. e.g. the RV/AV/UR/ 1000 series brush rolls work with some RV900 series and the batteries are almost all identical.. but not entirely. Lots of the filters are identical for the different generations of Auto empty docks - but the bins are totally different ..
