Hello, Thanks in advance for value you folks provide in this thread.
I replaced a Moen cartridge (96909) on single handle shower faucet with an everbilt, "shower cartridge for Moen; replaces posi-temp #1222).
That sucker fought like hell coming out and was super tough getting back in (only used little capsule of grease, which wasn't much).
I think I may may pushed stem in slightly when installing. Initially, water wouldn't shut off. Turned stem different ways, pretty much lost orientation if how it was supposed to be.
Experienced where water would only trickle out but now experiencing where hot won't shut off.
NOTABLY- the original (Moen) cartridge had 2 o-rings. This only has one.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Our lower shower faucet had water flow even if the shower handle was in the closed position. I did some research online and think it has something to do with the shower valve cartridge failing. I googled how to replace one and got to the step in the picture but can't get to the retainer clip with the trim/frame in the way. I unscrewed the two screws holding it in place but it still won't budge. I don't want to risk damaging the shower wall or the frame itself if I try pulling hard. But it looks like I need to remove the entire frame to get access to the retainer clip and the cartridge itself.
What is the best way to take the frame off here? Can I just force/pry it off? Is it sealed with a waterproof caulk-like thing that I need to reapply once I take it off the wall? Should I get a professional plumber to do this for me?
Any help would be appreciated! This is all new to me!
Closest model I can find for reference is the Moen T2151BN Brantford Brushed Nickel. It's not exact but pretty close.
Call Moen customer service. I've dealt with them before and they're good. They'll probably ask for pix while you're on the phone. They should be able to supply you with the correct cartridge.
If you couldn't get the clip back in, then you either installed it wrong or it's the wrong cartridge. Moen doesn't change their cartridge design as often as other manufacturers and most have that clip that ensures the cartridge is in all the way and lined up right. Take the pieces to a plumbing supply store if you can't get the cartridge you bought to work.
