Stay away from Palliser Furniture - Palliser review
Thoughts on Palliser reclining furniture?
Palliser vs. Southern Motion sofa?
[Request] BIFL sofa brands?
I sold furniture for many years. I'll just tell you now that nothing is made to last anymore. Even the "nice" furniture is not great anymore. Your better off buying very old furniture and getting it reapolstered. But that is a very very expensive task.
A few things to look at when buying furniture that will help you find reasonable quality is;
Touch the back of the sofa. Also the area under the arm rest on the outsides. Does the fabric have anything behind it? If they are willing to put a piece of material in an area that shouldn't be focused then they are a step above most.
Open the seat cushions. Are the foam wrapped in a breathable layer? This is bottom quality. Is it layered foam of different densitys? Does the foam look like it has been glued together? This is a sign that it has coiled springs in the seat. If so it should also feel extra bouncy (my favorite type of seat cushion) some brands sell upgrades to seat cushions for a very cheap price and this is worth it.
Take off the seat cushions and see how far apart the "s" springs are under them. The more of them and closer together they are the better. Also see how many horizontal connection wires are ran. 2 is a minimum. You should be able to see and feel these things through the fabric.
Lift up the sofa! If it's super light then it's made with less wood and material then heavy sofas. Yes they are easier to move but instead of wood they use things like cardboard.
Do not buy leather under 2k or it will peel and fall apart. Even some of the nice leather is junk. Any color of leather that's not a natural color has been dyed excessively and has compromised the quality of the leather.
These are just some of the rules I go by when buying furniture. If you want more tips then let me know and I'll post more :)
Also the warranty is for fools. Don't buy it. The sales staff gets a bunch of money for selling it so they push it hard.

6 or 7 years ago we purchased a Palliser recliner / glider. I can’t recall the exact price but in the $1300 plus tax range. We thought we were investing in a chair that would last for a couple decades. Most gliders / recliners from big box stores at the time were less than half the price.
Turns out not only has this happened to us, but it’s happening to a ton of purchasers that bought Palliser furniture. I know of one other person who bought one a year before us…and their situation is even worse. Our local retailer has said they’ve pretty much stopped selling Palliser because of so many customer complaints.
The Palliser website and brand is all about quality. But just be careful. They don’t seem to be holding up like advertised. Their leather warranty is 5 years. The peeling seems to start immediately after the warranty is over.
I contacted them and I’m essentially SOL.
