When you say split king you mean two twinxl? Making sure because some companies sell bases that are split only at the head. If it’s two twinxl I’d go that route. Usually that’s more expensive. If anything it will be more solid than one king frame. With two twin xl you will have 4 motors. One for each head and one for each foot. The king frame might only use two motors. Plus you have the flexibility to go twinxl mattress in the future. More on reddit.com

Bought a split Cali king this summer with a L&P adjustable base. Highly recommended for sleeping. Can't be beat. Terrible for everything other than sleeping. Tile floors. I failed to fully appreciate an adjustable split king is literally two separate beds pushed up against each other and nothing anchors the two together. Mind the gap. Def a no-go if you're a frequent spooner. You might have better luck on carpet or a traditional frame. Even on a traditional frame, though, the gap between the two mattresses won't meet perfectly and seal. It will always be there like the cushions on a couch. Good luck! More on reddit.com

If you have one mattress and don't plan to do the split king (two txl mattresses) in the future the one piece is going to be better value. If you ever move it is much easier to deal with the split king base, just as something to keep in mind but functionally there shouldn't be much of a motion transfer difference - they'd both offer strong grounding and Tempurs already eat motion.
