Hey! I was curious what model printer staples normally use. I got some laser printing done but it looked a little off. I foil some art prints and sell them and I normally go to my library but they aren’t printing right now. Went to staples which was fast and cheap buuut when I went to foil, there were lots of specks all over. Is it 100% a laser printer or is it one of those that says it’s laser and also has inkjet. If you guys know the model or brand of printer staples use that would be awesome!

Did you get it done in color or black and white and what size paper was it printed on? Our black and white is a Xerox D95 Our color is a Xerox c60/c70 For anything larger than an 11x17 it was printed on our HP T3500 unless they have the other model (z5600 I think?) The specks are likely from the printer needing one of the rolls or drums replaced. Did the associate who handed it back to you open the box and show you? I know not everyone does but in my department I make sure all my associates crack the box and you don’t leave unless you are 100% satisfied. Minus the people who can never be happy. The associate printing it might not have noticed it, but if you had seen it prior to leaving they should offer to reprint it. If you are really unhappy go back and ask to reprint it.

I own a Brother HL-L3210CW color laser printer. The prints it produces are just ok.
Recently, I sent documents to my local Staples which I also printed on the Brother and the difference is night and day. The Staples prints are literally 10X better than what my color laser printer produces.
The issue is, I need to print documents for customers and mail them out on a regular basis and driving to my local Staples is getting old...
Does anyone know what kind of printer Staples uses?
I was hoping maybe Inkjet would win out and bought a HP ENVY Inspire 7255e, but I tested it just now and it's actually like 10-20% worse than the Brother Color Laser.
The other thing of note: I am using non-OEM cartridges in the Brother printer, so maybe if I sprung for the $260 OEM cartridges I'd get a better print quality but I really don't know.
One other thing I could try is maybe the paper but I doubt that is really the issue here.

The Staples printer costs literally more than 10X as much as your printer. Looked up your printer. The Staples printer costs more like 100X as much as your printer. (Maybe more). Cost/quality is not linear. 100X more costly for 10X better looking seems about right! Now, that cost isn't just due to quality: it's designed to crank out quality copies, copies, and copies, all day at a high rate of production. There are some pros here who can probably tell you exactly what printer Staples, Office Depot, etc. use. But you probably can't afford it nor have room for it. Go 4X what you paid for that printer. You can get color laser quality good enough for e.g. professional presentations, real-estate flyers, etc. etc. general business use with a clean look. What is your use case?

But a ton of them use Xerox Digital Press machines, often the system itself costing well into 5 digits. And they may or may not be using print management systems such as Fiery that can interact directly with the color engine of the digital press to ensure it's doing a better job than adequate, but these systems often have licensing fees, hardware costs, and setup+install costs, not to mention the time time of techs to set up all this stuff and calibrate it, and etc. Unless you're going to get a dedicated high-accuracy color printer, get into digital color theory, and managing your own color profiles per type of paper used and more, you're best off letting the big groups with the staff and knowledge already to do this, do it for you. Otherwise, ya just gotta accept "well enough"
